I have been in The Cottage 20 times before, but the quality of food has declined tremendously. My favorite fish tacos has changed. The fish or lobster is being fried!! Overall food quality is very sloppy, when you go to the bathroom you can see the inside of the kitchen. It doesn’t look hygienic at all. Shame that a good place can go wrong so quickly.
Very expensive, meals and service was good. I was taken back by the bathroom facility.
We love this restaurant. This is where we go for our birthday lunches and our dog is permitted on the porch too. We love their food and the deserts are to die for!!! Coconut cake is our favorite.
Only open for breakfast and lunch. Be sure to check out the bakery items as well.
The atmosphere and service are great. Food was fair.
visiting bluffton for my first time. I stopped at the Cottage for breakfast last Friday , but was told I missed the breakfast by 20 mins.. I chose the prime time cheese burger - it may have been the best cheeseburger I have ever had. the quality of the meat , the taste, the presentation , was super. the waiter was very busy but still attentive to his tables. the eatery itself was like an art piece, very interesting experience. - if / when I make it back to bluffton , I will do the breakfast , which is supposed to be fabulous. ~ JDS/CT. .MAY 2023
Worst service, if I could give 0 stars I would, the shrimp was already eatn off the salad and there was nothing but tails. Burger was also rare when we specifically asked for well done. Would never come back. Waiter also had an attitude problem when we asked for simple stuff
Really great service. Bacon was burned. Excellent french toast.
Everything looked so good we bought one of each.
Delicious! Come here everytime I'm in town.
Great food. Good coffee and Over A hundred different teas
The salads were the best. Atmosphere was great....
The worst dining experience I’ve had in a long time. It’s going to take some time to recover from how awful that was. We were told we were going to wait 15 mins but we waited almost an hour. Nothing was edible. And it was expensive. My (terrible) Prosecco came in a wine glass. Ordered a vegetarian meal that came with bacon. The table was so dirty - possibly used a floor rag to wipe the table. One of the servers was nice enough but the rest need more training. All in all a really horrible experience that I wish I could erase from memory. Two Thumbs down.
The experience from hostess to meal was awful. The hostess was very rude and should probably be back of the house. The restaurant itself is not clean and just generally underwhelming. The food was exceptionally bad given the price. I had a $21 tomato pie…disgusting. It was like bisquick mixed with tomatoes and cheese baked in a bowl. Just gross, unrefined and wayyyyyy overpriced. I’d not visit again even if I were starving, you’d be better off going to Publix.
This place lived up to the reviews and the pictures I saw. Even coming here on a cool and rainy day, it was still very pleasant being here. Loved that this place was basically in an old home that had been in the area for years. It felt very homey eating out on the porch. I loved the OJ and the Staff Favorite "May River Sunshine" cocktail. It was exactly what I needed that early afternoon. Now, the reason I'm not giving them 4 on service was due to one error or maybe misunderstanding. Me and my sis were told the special salad of the day included blackened Salmon among the other ingredients. However, upon the plate being delivered I was like this is pretty but doesn't look like any salmon was included. Despite this, I found the food to be absolutely delicious. It was "the" best meal of my trip. Everything on the plate, despite being chaotic looking, was seasoned to perfection. Give them a try and don't forget to go inside and take home some baked goods
Expensive for what you get. But food was really good, service very good. Would go back on special occasions.
Small place, but they do have dinning out side. Baked goods are fantastic. Eat in or take home. We did both
We sat outside, the wrought iron chairs were a little rusty but a fun atmosphere. A little crowded and you can here the next table's conversation. The service was quick. Our waitress was on top of all our requests, even though it was extremely busy. I had the Southern Lady eggs Benedict. It was delicious. The cucumber Bloody Mary hit the spot. Coffee was strong and a good cup. My husband had the Mango avocado crab cake salad and it was outstanding. Other than the tight quarters, there is nothing to find fault.
Best crabcake Benedict I had in Bluffton.
We were very disappointed in our lunch and service at this restaurant! We kindly reminded our waiter numerous times that we had not received my husband's cocktail. ( his meal had already arrived) I ordered the Tomato Pie and received the Fried Green Tomatoes! My husband's panini was a Bacon BLT with Fried Green tomatoes. The sandwich was tasteless and only consisted of bacon bits with fried tomatoes! Sorry to say, we will not be returning!
