Fantastic place to eat! The food and drinks are always fresh and delicious.
Surprised that this place is rated as high as it is. Very disappointed with the menu items we ordered: egg and cheese croissant, breakfast burrito, southwest bowl, house granola. Aside from the granola, everything tasted very bland or was a strange combination (southwest bowl). If you decide to sit inside, I would avoid the left side of the building from where you first enter (employees entering and leaving back of house, plate scraping and people clearing their tables, unattended children in the kids corner, people entering and leaving through an egress door instead of the main entrance, low ceilings which amplifies any noise and talking). Not a very pleasant experience if you are looking for something relaxed on a Sunday. The way this cafe runs is similar to a Panera Bread. One might not realize this when they first enter the cafe, but you are supposed to seat yourself. You take a menu with you and place your order at the front counter. They give you a tracker to place at your table (which didn’t seem to work by the way) so they can deliver your food. When you are done, you clear your table before you leave. I don’t feel like this cafe meets the standard set by a cafe in a metropolitan area.
Food is decent, but the service leaves much to be desired. Despite waiting over an hour for my order while others who ordered later were already finishing their meals, I had to request a refund. Second similar experience.
This place was probably one of the best places we ate at during our trip. This cafe had it all (at least what matters to me)...good coffee and great food. We ate breakfast there and I had the Lancaster quiche...basically a quiche with bacon, ham, sausage and cheese...SO GOOD! A patron at the next table got this french toast sandwich concoction that looked amazing and he verified for me. My wife got some type of hash, which she loved. The atmosphere wasn't crazy, very laid back. No craziness or people coming in like they are the most important person in the world, like I encounter at the neighborhood Starbucks. Wish I lived closer to the Speckled Hen...I would be a regular.
Self service, high prices, half the food was cold and all of it to along time to get to us. When we asked how to sit and order we were told “go read the sign by the door”. And unbelievably so they were out of burgers at 11:30am on a Saturday!
My son and I always stop for breakfast here when we come to Strasburg. I had the breakfast burrito and my son had French toast today. Everything was great - including the friendly service. If you’re coming to the area, make this the place you come to for great food - and the coffee was terrific as well.
Oh my gosh! Visiting from Central NY and this place is a treasure. They certainly cater to making their patrons feel welcome welcome and cared for. I absolutely LOVED the baked oatmeal!! 🫶 best ever!! Wish they were closer to home for me, but we'll visit again
I highly recommend this beautiful cafe for breakfast! We had an amazing experience and the owners/servers are incredibly kind people! 😄
We were in town for a week and could not get enough of the Speckled Hen! Great staff and great food. Can't wait for our next visit.
By far the best breakfast spot I've eaten at in a long time. Food is always good, dont mind driving 30 minutes from home every Monday! Highly recommend!!!!
Very smooth and tasty cappuccino with almond milk. Very small cup, but quite yummy. It was Mother's Day, so VERY busy, but we plan to go back to check out the food. It looks like a lovely little place to sit, inside or out, with tea, or coffee, and a bite.
The food was amazing. Prices seemed a little high considering we had to go order and clean up our own tables but we had a great time. French Toast was great and frozen vanilla latte was terrific.
We love it here! Great GF options and the food is always so good!
Great food,, amazing location and ideal spot for families with toddler and kids pay structures, picnic tables, plenty of grass area to play on, even wild hares! We got burgers and salads and yogurts. All good food! They were out of avocados but plenty of other options. They should offer a substitute if an ingredient is missing. Order at the counter, pick up your food, clean up your table. More parking on the side
Delicious food and coffee! Love the selection of gluten free food and there is outdoor seating. Employees are very nice too. This place is a must to visit !
Overall a really cool place. A portions are not large for kids, so make sure you order adult size food even if you have kids.
Very clean , the staff was awesome. I highly recommend this place for dinner
A very nice quaint spot for an artisan breakfast. The potatoes were amazing and the portion sizes are generous. I had the Lancaster omelette, my husband had the French Toast Stacker and my daughter had the Ol Standby. I also has a sugar-free caramel latte that did not disappoint. Everythingwas so good, we will definitely be back.
Saturday-Very busy but the young lady taking orders at the register kept a calm kind demeanor. The Ethiopian blend was good for us who desire a stronger blend. Blueberry white chocolate muffin was moist. Prices weren’t crazy, seating was plenty. Overall a nice experience.
This was not our first visit and it won't be our last. We walked after our workout hoping they accepted Google pay and they do! Delicious French toast and refreshing iced coffee and iced tea.
