Baristas are extremely friendly & their coffee is the best in Lancaster. Love to order cappuccinos or something with one of their homemade syrups.

Pretty good coffee and tea. My husband had a coffee; I tried the matcha with lavender. The shop itself is cute and comfortable

We recently visited SQ1 on a trip to Lancaster and couldn’t recommend this coffee shop enough! We had their whipped matcha, a seasonal item therefore it may not be available when you visit, and it was delightful. Service was swift and friendly and the interior was clean and welcoming. We look forward to coming back!

Great coffees and variety! Their baked goods were so yummy. Barista was super helpful (I wish I remembered his name) I would have never thought to put lavender in my cold brew, so different 😍 Def a busy spot with not much room but it was worth it. Appx $18 for a drip coffee, cold brew, a 2 cookies, and 20% gratuity.

Always a great stop on my way to work. Very cheerful and accommodating staff, terrific coffee, and fresh Danish. Highly Recommend!

Tried square one for the first time today. The inside seems a little cramped with the rooms being cut off from each other, but the back patio area is great. I got an iced vanilla latte with almond milk and the rainbow toast. I was definitely disappointed with the toast, it seemed very cheaply thrown together and like bread out of a supermarket bag bs artisan sourdough. The latte grew on me and by the end I would have to say it was pretty good. I would go back and try something else and sit on the back patio area

Great coffee. They have a blue zen latte that is great. Staff is nice and the place is chilll. Really cool art. Amazing bagels and vegan cream cheese (usually!). Thanks SQ1!

Sq1 is one if not the best coffee shop in town! I'm a big fan! I love that they support local artist with different work in the front and back rooms. The pastries are pretty solid. They give you a discount for using your own mug and paying with cash. Vegan friendly options.

Tough one. Have to say 4 stars. The cup of coffee was fantastic. All things being equal, I'm going to be up front and say that if/when I come back to Lancaster, I will go to Passenger Coffee again over Square One. Few reasons for this. First is the cost. The single pour-over at Square One cost as much as a pour-over, an espresso, and a tea for my wife at Passenger. I think it was 50 cents less here so this is a very real thing. This coffee was more expensive than anything I have ever bought in NYC or SF, by a long shot. The service was passably nice but not much. Felt like I was a nuisance to their day coming in and paying $11.50 for a cup of coffee. I was asked if I was staying there or wanted it to go. I said stay and they promptly gave it to me in a to-go cup. So I left. Contrast this to Passenger where all 3 days I went there I spoke to 3 different people, all of which were fabulously friendly. All that said, this coffee was good, damn good. There is no denying that which is why I have to give it a 4-star rating. Super flavorful cup of Costa Rican which was rich & tasty. I cannot fault them for the cup, as it was excellent.

I ordered two pour-over coffees today, and they were both some of the best coffee I've had in a very long time. The beans used were amazing, and the barista who made my order was incredibly talented. The space and ambience are also really nice; the store is much more spacious than most other cafés in Lancaster, making it a more comfortable place to relax in. As an added bonus, you can buy some of Square One's single-origin coffee beans for home brewing while here. Square One is an excellent café, but first and foremost they're quite possibly the best coffee roaster in the area.

This was stop #8 on our Northeast Coffee Tour and it takes the trophy. Out of 12 coffee shops, it’s the only one that gets 5 out of 5 coffee mugs.
