A place that doesn't over roast and burn the beans. They care about the integrity of the bean and flavor, not how much caffeine they can squeeze out of it by over roasting it. Something that is almost impossible to find anymore. Great coffee and great food. I was surprised to find they served food and even have a wood fired oven for pizza. I had their Italian grinder sandwich with an Americano coffee to chase it down. It was absolutely delicious and worth checking out if you're in the neighborhood. Update 5/6/23 another amazing cup of coffee and a pastry this time which was absolutely delicious as well. It's so hard to find a good cup of coffee without adding creamer or other things to make it taste good. I liked it so much I joined the coffee club were you get 10 bags of beans at a lower price when you prepay. Looking forward to enjoying a great cup of coffee at home.
Perfect latte and a yummy cinnamon roll made for a great coffee break. Service was friendly and I appreciated the quiet atmosphere. A couple comfy chairs would make this a great hangout.
I went to Kainos not expecting much, just a quaint neighborhood coffee shop. Outside, the unique design and brand of the establishment was jaw dropping. Once inside, the absolute friendliness of the staff shocked me. They greeted me with a smile, enough to warm my insides like I was standing next to a crackling fire. The owner Martin, was a kind soul and is now one of my bestest of friends. This establishment may change your life forever. I 1000 times recommended it.
Hands down the best pizza and coffee in The Dalles. The staff is super friendly. It’s a great place to bring your kids too. They have a dedicated play area for kids.

This place is lovely, great quick service, awesome food, and outlets in convenient places for laptop users. I will definitely be back.

My family loves this place. They have great food and friendly staff. The whole family is welcome and the kids can play in a separate play area. I enjoy their coffee and the Mother Mary pizza, cooked in a wood-fired oven, is out of this world. Kids love that breakfast is served all day.
Kainos coffee is absolutely delicious, the ambiance is delightful, and the staff is wonderful. Highly recommend.

Ten stars for the excellent, friendly service. It's legit the best coffee shop in the Dalles & worth getting off the interstate for. Interior is light & cheerful, coffee roasted in house and very good.
A pretty solid coffee shop. Seemed like a lot was going on, but my coffee was delicious and I'm glad I stopped on my way home.

Best roasters in town. Very sweet staff, kids playroom, amazing cherry lemonade. We love coming here to relax and get coffee while the kids play. Came back to add they are willing and able to make delicious celiac-safe GF breakfasts and salads! So excited to be able to eat here and the omelette especially is a favorite.
I used to like this place. Quality went down. Ordered a pizza as really the amount of basil they put is a joke
