Ohhhhh this is the best food ever.! Went one day and just had to go back next day for more. I'm in love with fluffy omelette and my husband is in love with biscuits and gravy. The atmosphere and staff are so sweet. We love, admire and adore you Compass Rose Cafe! Thank you for feeding us such scrumptious food!

Wonderful local place with a really friendly staff. Had the best breakfast burrito I've had in a while--the Atomic Burrito. Delicious and easily two meals (and I'm a pretty big guy). Also loved the marine biology videos playing on the TV. I learned about local sea hares while I ate. :)
Where the locals go, and for good reason. This place is run efficiently, and with attention to detail. Lovely staff and an excellent breakfast menu.
Very nice little cafe, loved the feel. Food was excellent, so easy the coffee. Ate there for breakfast and everything was amazing.
Good place for lattes, mocha and avocado toast with inside and outside seating but it was cold even inside with inadequate heating. Was quite crowded and it would have been nice to be informed that the wait would be long as we had to wait almost an hour before being served! They did apologize for the wait but did not offer anything for the extra long wait!
Super nice little cafe! Hugeeee breakfast burritos and nice staff. The burritos lacked a bit of flavor but were huge for the price. Lots of breakfast and coffee options. A small latte w flavor and almond/oat milk was about $7.
Tried four different restaurants while in town that had great reviews. The Compass Rose is the only one that lived up to the rating. Amazing food, friendly staff. Thank you!

A wonderful blessing in Brookings. The Compass Rose is a beautiful family run business that delivers on quality food and fast, friendly service. Very nice, welcoming and charming vibe to the cafe. I went there for a Sunday breakfast and was not disappointed. I had the spicy sausage omelette and it was delicious! Fluffy with the perfect ratio of ingredients. This was complemented with yummy crispy hash browns and perfectly cooked bacon. Breakfast can be a hit or miss at some of these small cafes/diners. This was a home run! Highly recommended!!! I’ll be back…! A new favorite stop in Brookings.
Amazing eye candy & very delectable food! The soup is the spot on every time. The breakfast burritos are unique & for every one. The service is impeccable! Highly recommended!
Friendly staff, cute interior and delicious coffee/food. I got a honey bee (the perfect amount of sweetness) and one of the biggest, tastiest brownies I've ever had. All the baked goods looked great, and they do have real food as well, including grab and go hot burritos. GF and vegetarian options as well as alternative milks available. Despite coming right before closing, staff didn't rush me and answered my menu questions. There's indoor and outdoor seating and a few parking spots right out front.

The breakfast I had was to salty and we went to get donuts the next morning and they tasted liked day or two old donuts.... The donuts were not fresh at all....
We enjoy the Compass Rose's breakfast burritos and we like the decorations of the restaurant.
I had the monster burrito. And they call it monster for a reason. This thing weighed probably over a pound. The only thing is it lacked flavor, it had some but could have used something else. Maybe a little Cajun seasoning.
I have not been there yet but I am definitely coming to have breakfast there tomorrow after I just read and I love the way that the owner answered a review for the last lady named Karen oh I mean Katie LOL it for you I work with the homeless population And if people would respect them more and understand that not all people are drug addicts because they’re homeless, this world would be a lot better place to live in!
We really enjoyed the food here - but did not enjoy the lack of awareness from the staff when it came to the homeless who were on drugs sitting in the restaurant for hours. I know we, and several patrons around us were very uncomfortable. Not only for our physical safety, but covid safety as it was no being respected by the staff. We witnessed the same person enter the restaurant, use the restroom to do drugs, and continue to return to his table and use all of the self serve items at the coffee bar completely drugged out. This was very unsettling. We wished that this was handled by the staff but unfortunately they continued to serve him (without any gloves) and ignore the fact that he was extremely unsafe. I wish we could return but we can’t overlook this.
Fantastic, family owned cafe with a yummy menu and cozy atmosphere! I’ve been in several times and ordered doordash a bunch and have been so happy every time. Gotta recommend the b&g, the plain Jane and their pastry selection. They also make a perfect London Fog Latte :))
