THE spot for baked goods. Ocean Rolls are and should be legendary.
First off, nothing was BAD at sparrow, but if you know genuine pastries and espresso drinks, then you will be a little disappointed. Sparrow was Good, but no better than that. The almond croissant (my go-to at any bakery) was a big disappointment. The croissant was dry and hard, and the almond filling lacked the lovely marzipan flavor. I could taste fresh flour throughout each bite which wasn’t appealing. The Monte Cristo was pretty good. I ordered a Croque monsieur with fried egg on top, and the fried egg that came on it was rubbery and beyond over cooked. Maybe opt for the poached egg if you want a Croque Madam. Without the egg, the sandwich itself was good but nothing more. The Canelé had a good flavor and nice moist center, but very thick and very hard exterior. The only pastry we loved was their popular Ocean Roll full of fresh ground cardamom and vanilla sugar giving it a little bit of a chewy, not too sweet middle. As for coffees, we got oat milk flat whites which came out looking like a cup of coffee with warm oat milk poured in, not well steamed at all. Thankfully they use Oatly milk so the coffee was at least a little creamy in texture. The young lady at the counter was very friendly and patient with all of our questions and the time we took deciding! Sparrow is a good bakery and cafe, but don’t get your hopes up to have an outstanding pastry, coffee, or breakfast.
Forgot to take the photo it was too good to be waiting 🤣🤣🤣… had the croissant breakfast 😍😍😍😍. I’ll go again this week and take a photo 👣👣👣
Got the Carmel Latte and an Ocean Roll. Both were amazing.
Pastries are amazing, next level amazing. Sandwiches are not good, it's very busy.
If you are looking for healthy food, this is a great place. Baguette was great 👍 great staff. Long line but worth the wait. Loved it
Good eats and drinks. Menu changes later in the day. Also a kid the weekday lunch hour unless you want to combat with the masses of HS kids there for lunch. Good for Sparrow, not for me will go again.
Great spot, I am a regular since we moved to Bend
We love this place. It is a priority to go at least once every time we are in town.
Visited the walk-up window since we had our dog. We got a cinnamon twist roll, a cocc cookie, and an ocean roll. The cinnamon twist roll was delicious. Flaky and cinnamony and sugary perfection. We also really enjoyed the cocc cookie once is was warmed up and gooey. The ocean roll was our least favorite but not bad by any means, just not to our flavor preferences. We also came back the next day for breakfast sandwiches and are glad we did! We got the bacon sandwiches, added cheese, and asked for fried instead of poached eggs. The bacon was cooked perfectly and the croissant was amazing. We would come back for sure!
Pricey but delicious! We had the Ocean Roll, bagel with lox, coffee and a bloody Mary. Definitely a cool northwest vibe.
Delicious breakfast croissant, ocean roll, and more!! if you are traveling from out of town, make sure you go in for the full experience (the quick section is quick, but it mostly has prepackaged foods that looked nowhere near as good as the stuff in the full restaurant section).
I stop here every time I visit Bend. Recommend arriving early if you want their breakfast croissants, they sell out quickly.
Great breakfast spot! Gotta try the steel cut oats with cream and brown sugar! 🤤
The best French bread in the area wish there was more in Redmond
I make a point of going to the Sparrow Bakery any time I return to Bend. My daughter was with me for the 1st time this trip, and she loved it (and the ocean roll) as much as I do. ❤️
Two words. OCEAN. ROLL. You ever take a bite of something and immediately look at it while nodding your head? Yeah, it's that kind of good. What a delicious treat - it's like a cinnamon roll, only better. They use Cardamom which is a spice I never heard of prior. You learn something new every day, and if you are like me, you try something new every day. 🤣 Nice vibes in here and I love that they have an express window outside to the right if you're in a hurry. I used it to get five to go. They weren't all for me though....... or were they? Must try if you are in Bend. Period. -K
Great local bakery in Bend! My personal faves are the Bacon breakfast sandwich, the Ocean Roll, coffee and shortbread cookies.
Croissant was fresh and crispy. The fries are cut differently but loved it.
A favorite amongst locals and a must-go if visiting town. They offer a variety of baked goods made daily that are mouthwatering and can make anyone's tummy happy . They supply burger buns and sandwich vessels for the brewery I used to work at and they always made sure we were taken care of and didn't run out of product. They're a superb vendor to have in the kitchen industry. Shout-out to the early morning bakers and their attention to detail. Thank you Sparrow team!
