This is our go-to for brunch in the Albany-Corvallis area. Excellent cocktails, delicious hash (salmon is our fave) and yummy pastries. Lunch is tasty, too! Mortar-style your comfort food when you can, you won't be disappointed.
Came here again for the chicken and waffles, amazing experience and just as good as the first time my roommate and I visited. We were also there early enough to snag one of their apple fritters. It was very moist and not like the typical fritter you get at your run of the mill doughnut shop. Wonderful breakfest and conversation in a homly setting with friendly staff. The music choice was the only thing I felt didn't fit in with the whole vibe but was non offensive enough to not bother me most of the time. Still had a great time though, will definitely be going back when I have the time.
The mimosa sampler was absolutely amazing and the pastry was delicious
I love going here with my family. The environment is good, the food has been delicious every time and everyone is very pleasant. They have seating upstairs, down and outside and also a short bar. Mostly stroller friendly. They sell some cool sturdy mugs, definitely a good buy and new favorite!
First and, maybe last time. First impression was that the host was too busy to even acknowledge me. I stood there a couple minutes while people just walked right in ahead of me. I hadn’t been there before and didn’t know the protocol so it would have been nice for the host to be more attentive. I ended up walking up and getting my place in line to be seated. When we were seated they came right away and the waitress was nice enough. I received a dirty water pitcher and had already been drinking my water so that was gross. The place was loud and I could barely hear my friends who were sitting right across the table from me so that was pretty frustrating having to almost yell. They should install some sound dampeners because it really did make the experience frustrating. It was also pretty cold and I shivered a lot of the time. So a little heat would be nice. I ordered the man-mosa and salmon crepes. Neither was anything to write home about because they both lacked flavor. I felt like a little salt on the crepe would have gone a long way. I also felt the crepe wasn’t a crepe, but more like an omelette. The drink was super sour, but it wasn’t lacking on the liquor so that’s why they get 2 stars. All-in-all, I wasn’t impressed. I’ll try again because it may have been an off day.
Small restaurant that gets busy. 4 booths, 8 tables for 4, 2 tables for 2, 7 stools at the bar = seating for 60. Seating outside on fair weather summer days. Breakfast and lunch only. The omelettes, breakfast platters , and burgers are recommended. You can spend $25 but most dishes are $15. Definitely one of the better places in Albany.
Food came out wrong, when they returned with correct order it was cold. Not one to ever complain or write a review. However with a combination of horrible service, tasteless food, and dirty environment I need to share.
Me and my mom come here as a treat every now and then but today was awesome! Dion was really nice and helpful in helping me decide on drinks, and suggested the mortar-style hash browns to me. I got the eggs benedict with those and it was delicious!
Delish food! A little spendy, but worth it for a nice meal
Other waitresses were okay, the fat woman by the door who seats people acted like you own her one million dollar. She almost threw the pitcher to our table when we just sat down. All the food looked nice. Not recommend Chicken n waffles. Chicken was not marinated thoroughly and tasted plain. Pretty sure chicken and waffles shared the same batter because they all tasted very bland. Not a good experience here. Will not come again.
Brick and Mortar has the best breakfast food I've ever had. Pancakes, salmon hash, breakfast sandwich (which is huge) all amazing. The mimosa flights are great.
Food was great and being here on a holiday the service was fantastic. The staff was amazing, they were so sweet to my five year old.
We don't often get to eat here but we are always impressed with the food and service. I had chicken and waffles and it was just delightful. If you go for breakfast be prepared to wait for a table. I also had a espresso old fashion and it was delicious. I could drink that creamy goodness all day.
The best eats in Albany. Chicken and waffles are one of many favorites, staff is super friendly and the bartender (Kacey) is an awesome person full of personality. Can be a bit busy but worth the wait.
Really great food, service, and atmosphere. It was busy on a Sunday morning but we only had to was about 15 minutes for a party of 4. We ordered coffee, a latte, hue is rancheros, breakfast platter, chicken biscuit sandwich, and chicken and waffles. All were delicious.
Too many good things to say about this restaurant, so just trust me when I say GO!! 🙌🙌 Wait time is usually long, so prepare for that, or arrive early.
I had previously wrote a bad review on their service but this is my husband’s favorite breakfast place, so I gave it another chance about 6 months ago and have grown to love this place. Their food is amazing, the service has been excellent, their coffee is amazing! I don’t have any any complaints!
This is a very popular location for breakfast. The menu is diverse and unique. Service is excellent and the atmosphere is great. My favorite dish is Eggs Benedict.
Food is great . But I do want to share this horrible experience I just had this morning. My husband made a reservation we were told 50min wait. I received the text that our table was ready . The waiting area is so small . We decided to down the st while we waited. When I received the text from the restaurant it said we had 5min to check in. I ran to the restaurant because obviously with little parking spaces it takes more time . I check in and im denied our table simply because my husband and daughter weren't with me. Not once was I told this was a policy to have the entire party present. They said I would need to wait until the next table was available. This of course is an inconvenience because I do have an appt after. I requested to speak with the manager. She didn't seem to care and didn't offer as a one time courtesy to allow it . I'm so upset and disappointed. poor service is what keeps me away other than food quality from places .
I'm a new resident to Albany and my mom sister abd I have been here a couple of times and will definitely come back again. All the staff are so friendly and personable. And the food is clearly high quality. Very charming atmosphere
