It's a different world then where you come from! So loved that show and wishn I would of had more opportunities in life to end up in a college world like that...
Different Wrld is absolutely lovely, we stopped in for their Thursday and Friday 2-8pm Library and Coffee. The space was amazing, the coffee was phenomenal, and the host, Spike, was super nice!
Different Wrld brings so much to the creative community in Asheville. They are the leaders of breaking down barriers of entry into the creative industry; providing the spaces, tools, and connections to make self expression through art accessible to everyone. Whether you want to catch an amazing live DJ set, have a coffee as you work on a storyboard, or need to rent the proper gear to start your own podcast, Different Wrld can provide it all.
Absolutely love this establishment!! Delicious drinks/snacks, knowledgeable and welcoming staff, meticulously curated events (music, dance parties, workshops and more), all in a beautifully designed open/airy setting. Will definitely return and recommend Different Wrld to friends.
One of the only places in Asheville where I can dance the night away without “being perceived” or harassed. All the bartenders are hot & the vibe is immaculate. I used to vend at their art markets and had a lovely experience. 10/10 would recommend for any event / occasion
Not only is Different Wrld a chill space to work and/or complete projects during the day over coffee/tea (with no upcharge for vegan milks like most places practice) and a fun place to go at night to enjoy events with yummy cocktails and a variety of really good non-alcoholic drinks and a free water jug for anyone to access, but it is community. Different Wrld is one of the most inclusive, safe, warm, welcoming spaces I have ever been to. It is a place to go and freely be your true self, free of judgement and met with love and acceptance. The creators of this space and their small staff put so much love and hard work into this space and it is evident by the environment and community they have created. They stand by their progressive values and truly put them into practice. For example, for the vast majority of ticketed events/events with a cost at the door, they are NOTALOF (no one turned away for lack of funds). This Black owned, queer owned, woman owned small local business is a blessing to our community. I can't wait to see what the future has in store for them!
This place is everything Asheville needs! Moving here from NYC there was no place like home other than Different Wrld. The community here is so sweet and so welcoming to people of all different backgrounds. The music is to die for and the drinks are SO tasty and worth every penny. This place cares about art and community so much its become the only place I ever want to go out here. BIG shout out to all the people who work hard to make a venue like this exist. Asheville is lucky to have a space like this where everyone can get together, dance, laugh, create and simply exist in a safe space. DIFF WRLD 5ever
Amazing space. Wonderful staff. Such a welcoming + creative atmosphere that Asheville desperately needs. Different Wrld 4evr!
The have such wonderful shows. Would recommend the drag shows they host! Im gonna bring my grandma to the next one they announce :)
I have been scamed by this venue. Left my card there (cause they insist on holding your card just to run it.) They have been running micro transactions on my card and would not admit they had my card in there possession. This venue has VERY UNSAFE practices. Charges 3- 5 dollars for water. Has hardly any access to trashcans They take your drinks when your not looking to throw them away and make you buy more.. Very snooty stuck up Staff that treats customers with a very judgmental personality. No way to actually contact the venue... This place isn't gonna stick around very long with morals like these..
Cool spot, went to a show there recently and had a great time. 4 stars because when I asked for a drink of water, they sold me a tiny bottle of Fiji water for $3. Doesn't seem community friendly to me -- and yes, I'd already bought alcohol and tipped well.
A nice, chill spot to grab a drink and relax. They also have all kinds of cool concerts, community events, and opportunities to learn.
Dope atmosphere, great staff, music fccin bops. (Lol google asked me to update like I was finna change my mind) STILL DOPE
I’m happy with this place! All the bartenders, staff and owners are amazing. Definitely an asheville must!
It's a venue for artists to perform in. There's a different show or event almost every day
Unique and delicious drinks and the DJ is great late nights!
Safe, comfy space with great music, especially for the queer alternative crowd. Delicious drinks, the people that work here are great and relatable, I had a great time and met some fun people! 10/10 recommend. Shame to see a bad review because someone misses an old venue (that truly was great), kind of presumptuous to feel like one is speaking for an entire community though. *Shrug*
Best venue in Asheville throwing the best events… built on purpose vibes and love <3 <3 <3 <3
Fabulous, everyone-friendly space!
The community needs and deserves this space 🖤.
