We went to the regional market first but that was a bust for a light breakfast so my son found this place. I picked a bagel and tea and my family coffee and a treat. Love the decor. Young man behind the counter was helpful and patient. They had some problems with the computer, processing payments but appears to have been an issue that day in the city. Would go again.

The atmosphere is nice, but the training of the baristas and the resultant quality of the coffee (the whole point of a coffee shop) is uneven. The person in front of me got the (apparently) good barista, and I got the untrained college student that doesn't know how to steam milk. Also, they default to 16oz lattes, which, to me, signals what their focus is. This place should not have a higher rating than Fuego or Ugly Duck.

Nice cafe for a cup of cappuccino, the atmosphere and staff were very good, the entrance leads right into the ordering counter and causes a bit of traffic jam near the entrance, the coffee was good, carrot cake was a little too sweet, located in downtown Rochester near Eastman Music school, love the old fashionable interiors

Let's be honest; Java's doesn't need anyone's Google review. It's long-earned it's keep. In over 30 years Java’s hasn’t changed much, and I hope it never does. Their environment is easily one of the coolest and coziest in town, and they’ve been making excellent coffee, tea, desserts, and more since opening in 1992.

The atmosphere is very relaxing and their pastries always delicious here too. I recommend trying them out whenever you have a chance.

Post-pandemic prices up, selections and crowds down, the vibe here and all across downtown feel lacking. The dessert and coffee smell and taste just as good as ever, though, so save up your change and help revive the scene.

It's always a great way to start the day to come here. They have a great team working for them and they have an excellent selection of items to pick from. Love this place and we need more businesses aroung like Java's.

Awesome local place for coffee and bakery items. Espresso and cannoli were both great. Nice vibe and decor.

My favorite coffee place ever and anywhere and has been for 20+ years. Unique, packed with art, incredible baked treats if you like that, and good coffee. Wish I could escape here more often.

A little pricy from when I last remembered it. I guess prices have changed and it’s on a menu on the counter in front of the register but they haven’t updated the giant chalkboard you see when you walk in... And drinks have too much ice. 50% of both my drinks were ice. Filled one cup with ice at the end.. Cut throat if you ask me especially on something that requires little effort. Payed 4.50 for small lemonade and 4.50 small iced tea.. Probably won’t be back for a while. I understand it’s business and it’s tough out here but sheesh. Good ambiance and good art though.

Cool ambiance and the baked goods (I didn’t try) looked great, and the coffee was solid. My redeye (drip with an espresso shot) started out a little roastier than I expected on the first sips and by the bottom had smoothed out and had complex flavor. Definitely worth a visit.

Love javas! The coffee and atmosphere are both excellent. The space is big enough where you can go study and it doesn't feel crowded. They also have a lot of really great desserts. Probably by favorite coffee shop in Rochester!

It was a cool place for coffee, had decent pastries (little but dry), and a pool table downstairs. I may go back here. The aztec mocha coffee was good but wish it was a little stronger.

Love this coffee spot! They roast their beans. Coffee is good. Cool hangout spot right by the Eastman School of Music. And the hours - 7am - 12am everyday! - are amazing for night owl coffee drinkers like me. Not sure if they have a skim or low fat milk option but if not that would be helpful. Add a star if you dress goth.
