not open, said they were. L place
While I have mixed feelings about this place (two very different experiences) I did want to applaud them for bringing some delicious variety into the Glens Falls area. Especially delicious were the stuffed dates for holiday! Unfortunately my second experience wasn't as exemplary. With a near empty space, it took about 35 minutes for food. Tea was forgotten, but when asked for - was delivered so hot, that it left lasting burns on the mouth, even after sitting for some time. I would go back and give them another opportunity, as the people and menu are wonderful, but may hesitate to order hot drinks again.
Food in general is incredibly good! Occasionally, takeout orders can be a little dry. But the staff is always extremely friendly, and their lassis and ice cream are phenomenal. Haven't tried the coffee, but everybody I know raves about it
I don't know what's happened here, but it isn't good. Today, my wife went in to order several dishes for take-out. One young man was waiting tables, running the register, and doing the cooking. The order was messed up, which we discovered upon getting home. This level of care is not to be tolerated in the food service industry. -I had previously given this establishment five stars, but today's performance utterly erased that. It was beyond poor.
Good ambience. Must visit if you like Pakistani food and are in the Adirondack region
I can not say enough amazing things about this beautiful cafe. Muhammad puts so much love into the beautiful food and drinks that he creates. It was my mother's and my first time visiting. Muhammad makes you feel like family and that you aren't just another customer. The baklava melted in your mouth and had the perfect amount of sweetness. He was excellent at describing the different kinds of Chai, and my mother ended up getting the Brown Sugar Chai, and I got the Kashmiri Chai. Muhammad learned how to make the Kashmiri Chai from his grandmother. People don't understand how difficult that is to make. He learned how to make it on a steamer machine through the heat of covid times, which is even more difficult than the typical stove method. I love how the spices from the brown sugar chai lingered on the tongue after each sip. It was like the experience of the drink continued even after the drink was finished. The atmosphere was so warm and inviting also. Please don't have any hesitation on visiting this cafe. My mother and I have decided to come get Chai once a week here now!
Four of us tried this cafe for dinner tonight. Each of us ordered different meals and really liked everything we ate. The Naan was decious and the baklava was us! And I’ve tried a lot of baklava! The space was casual but comfortable. And the owner was very friendly. We will definitely go back.
Chai use to good, but now it’s not even cooked properly. Samosa chat is total waste of money as it doesn’t resemble samosa chat in any way or form. Just boiled chickpeas topped with a burnt frozen samosa. Caters to western taste buds since they can’t tell the difference.
I came into Alif to ask the owner if he would like to donate a giftcard to my cause. Not only did Mohammed donate 3 gift cards he then donated a hundred dollar bill to my organization. I was floored! I asked so many restaurants for help and no one even came close to this level of generosity. I can't think of a better person and business to support. Please support a local business and eat here!
Everything was wonderful. I ordered the chicken Tikki, and It was lightly spiced, just enough. With the Cheese Naan, and the Tandori aoli on the side was amazing. It was not only beautifully presented, it was also so fresh. Muhammed is very friendly and the ambiance was exactly what I was looking for, while dining. 5 stars from me!
Very tasty food. Nicest people. 5 stars!
We tried the Chicken tikka naanwich, beef kabab naanwich, samosa chat, veggie pakoras, chai and rolled ice cream. Food is delicious, did take some time to prepare but we were not bothered by the wait. We knew the food was being prepared fresh. The naanwiches are not your average naan rolls. Owner is friendly and checked in to ensure all was well.
Great atmosphere and design of the interior. Tasty food and friendly staff. All this combined with reasonable prices makes it a great spot.
Nice place for a solo lunch
Completely tasteless. Massive chunks of chicken, 0 absolutely 0 seasoning.
I would show a picture but I had one bite and I didn’t even think of it because this place is honestly amazing. I got the butter chicken with rice and salad and I honestly devoured it. The owners and employees were very nice and polite I 100% recommend going here!!!
Google said the cafe closes at 9.00 pm and we arrived at 7.00 pm only to hear them rudely say we closed the kitchen and didn't even want to talk further! We asked if we could get some plain rice for baby and they simply said No :( We should have called ahead but whats the point on listing misleading operating hours?
I have to say there was not a thing i could say poorly about the place, it was late when me and my friend got there to eat but when we were greeted it was by the manager, the food was delicious and prepared perfectly, even for myself not to keen on spiced foods the chicken and breading side were just perfect, was served in a decent time, the tea was hot but delicious, the rolled icecream when we had it to go was nicely done and when home to eat it it hit the spot as a snack, all and all i for one will definitely have to go again, thank you for the delicious meal and hope to come back soon Alif Cafe! <3
WONDERFUL! We don't often get to Glens Falls, so this week while looking for a bite to eat my wife & I happened upon Alif Cafe and were intrigued by the menu - how lucky for us! Staff were very friendly and accommodating, but the food is what really shined. We are not unfamiliar with Pakistani cuisine, so we had the Chicken Masala and the Chicken Tikka, both with salad, and we shared a side of garlic naan. The chicken was moist and tender, and both sauces were right on in terms of spice and flavor. The rice was cooked perfectly, and the salads were a real surprise: tender and fresh baby spinach and green lettuce, red onion, and topped with a lovely garlic yogurt dressing. Side salads are often paid little attention in many restaurants, but here they are prepared with as much attention to detail as the main courses. The naan was fresh and doughy but airy inside, with a great char on the exterior. We can only hope the owners open a satellite in our neck of the woods!
