Was pleasantly surprised by this place. Most cafes at federal parks sell convenient store hot dogs at 6x the price. Not this place. Think gourmet food at a reasonable price. PJ was super friendly and a joy to talk to. We just had dessert because we had already eaten lunch but everything we got was delicious. We will defiantly make it a point to eat here next time we’re at Bandelier.
My boyfriend and I visited the Bandelier Monument as our second hike of the day. We were hungry! We stopped to eat at Sirphey, and were surprised by the extensive menu. My boyfriend had an elk burger on fry bread, and I had spring rolls with a mango lassi to drink. We were blown away by how delicious our food was! To finish off, the owner suggested we try the pistachio baklava - OMG! It was heavenly. We had a great meal and a wonderful experience - highly recommend.
This is a wonderful surprise--Food is delicious and varied, ranging from burgers (beef or elk), or chicken salad, NM dishes, to vegan options. Portions are generous. Desserts look good but we could not eat more. Service is friendly. We shall be sure to time our next visit to Bandelier during breakfast or lunch.
Went to Sirphey's with a party of 5 after hiking at Bandelier. Was not expecting much from a park café, but we were hungry and aren't picky. The guy working there was very friendly and gave us a few reccomendations. I had the Doug elk burger and a Mango Smoothie. The smoothie was great, and I was blown away by how good the burger was. One of the best I've ever had.
What an incredible treasure to have right there in Bandelier National Park! We loved the burger (elk, yum) and the Chai!
Out of all the national parks and monuments I've been to this has been the best café! My burger and salad were amazing. The service was high end. The man behind the counter was so kind and his smile made me happy. All the food was fresh. Unlike most other parks that have packaged gas station sándwiches and salads. More parks should strive to offer this kind of service.
We ate at Sirphey today after hiking Bandelier National Monument and it was fantastic. Absolutely FANTASTIC. Our group of six was so pleasantly surprised at the quality of this small park-adjacent cafe. Everything exceeded expectations from the salads and burgers (veggie, elk and beef) to the chai, samosas and Indian fry bread. If you are visiting Bandelier, please do yourself a favor and eat here. It’s a beautiful post-hike reward… particularly after the climb to Alcove house!
Delicious food with gluten-free options. Friendly, efficient staff.
The place was closed for a while, because of the pandemic, so this was our first time there in three visits to Bandelier. We were pleasantly surprised. The service was fast and friendly, the food came pretty fast as well. The burgers, we ordered were great. Totally recommend upgrading to elk or bison. Also good selection of spicy sauces available for your food. Prices are reasonable. We spend about 100 Dollars and our family of six had enough food and drinks with that. Do recommend trying this place, when you visit Bandelier.
What an amazing and very delicious hamburger. I had the New Mexico True Burger... every bite was delicious. A very nice treat after hiking and exploring the loop! Staff was awesome. Keep up the great work.
The Doug with elk is delicious and so is the fry bread. My wife enjoyed the chicken skeezer salad too
Fantastic cafe, housemade sweets and THE BEST chai
Definitely not the best burger in NM as advertised outside on the sign. Wasn't really expecting it to be great but the elk Burger was a pre-formed patty and did not have much flavor. Actually, the burger itself did not have much flavor, (we tried the duke). The chai tea was good, lots of clove flavor. The cookie, although fresh out of the oven was only mediocre. Considering we paid $44 for two drinks, one burger and a kids meal w no sides I think 3 stars is generous.
Incredible burger. Great atmosphere. Thank you for making this trip even more memorable!
I would give it 6 Stars if I could. My wife and I were expecting average Park food. Wow...we were blown away. Best bison and elk I have ever had. The Doug Burger is highly recommended.
The owner and staff are super friendly and the fresh baked goods are so delicious after a morning hike!
Came for a geology field trip and tried out “the legendary Doug.” The burger lived up to the name and while it was a little bit expensive, I got more than enough food to fill me up and then some, so I don’t really think that’s a huge deal. Staff were nice and wait wasn’t too bad for me. Good experience!
Expected standard National park gift shop area cafe food but these folks turned that upside down. They have gourmet burgers and some local spins on traditional dishes. I couldn’t decide between the mango habanero avocado elk burger and “The Doug” so they combined it for me into an incredible burger. Others in my group had a regular elk burger and the chicken green Chile Mac n cheese. The staff was super nice and the service was fast too. Waited maybe 15 minutes for the food to come out, which was a nice rest after hiking.
The Doug with elk is one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. Was the salad that came with it good? No, not really. Was the music too loud? Yes, so I sat outside. Was the food a little expensive? Yeah. Would I eat there again? Yes. All of these issues, and whatever other complaints people have had are valid and should be addressed, but The Doug was out of this world. It was so good, I'd almost consider a trip to the park just to get one. I didn't try any other food, and truthfully the meals the rest of my crew got seemed a little lackluster, but they should have ordered The Doug. If you eat here, get The Doug with elk, and maybe a lemonade.
My husband and I absolutely loved this place! Service was spectacular! Food was so good we bought a season pass into the park so we could eat there often! My husband had the Doug burger who's is a elk burger with a Monterey cheese stuffed Chile relleno on it. The fries you can tell are fresh not frozen. The vanilla chia tea was great. My bean burger was amazing as well. And the grilled chicken Caesar was great also. Along with the large chocolate chip cookie topped it off!
