Absolutely middle of the road quality & service. My wife had ordered a regular coffee on 3 occasions was charged $1.75 I went in to buy one for her and was asked to pay $3.00 I went in a second time and the same counter person charged me $2.50 I asked & was told that is the regular price, even though I brought her cup back in to be re-used. They did not seem very interested in being pleasant to new customers, which hopefully will change as they get settled into their new digs. I will be coming back to spend more time and energy here. May you have many blessings in Taos!!! Thank you for the very prompt reply, Also for filling me in on the responsibilities you hold as only one human to provide a capitalistic vision with a desire for spreading something hopeful & positive in this otherwise difficult & speculative business community...Have & hold a positive outlook & good things will surely happen for you! Let me know when you would like some volunteer help, and just what tasks need tending to, I will be more than happy to pitch in, as may be appropriate. However, I never bought a cup o joe @ the speedway for my wife, and certainly have never patronized any other coffee business in Taos County. So I am quite certain the price fluctuation occurred right there at your "Mountain Monk" location about one block North of the Ranchos Post Office. I am certain That I was charged $3 on one occassion then told the next day the price was only $2.50 Next time I will take the opportunity to check what is written on the menu, I did leave the balance of my $5.00 bill in the tip jar. in both instances. I am glad to hear that source & sustainability are your intention, hence my offer to volunteer on a limited basis...if helpfulness can be utilized. You know my name, & are certainly welcome to take me up on this offer. Peace & pleasantries for your community driven efforts here in Ranchos, and may all beings breath more deeply and experience blessings in their each & every day,

Mountain Monk Coffee of Taos is a delight! We locals already cherish the place, as it embodies the beautiful Taos vibe. Lacy has a genuinely warm, friendly, and upbeat staff who clearly love people and enjoy providing enjoyable, healthful food and drink. Their foods are made in house and delicious while also designed for nutrition. Everything is organic and GF while also yummy, even their wonderful quiche. They respect and appreciate vegetarians and vegans in creating menu items. They don't roast coffee beans, but they do carry a variety of choices in beans, roasted right (according to this former Seattlite coffee aficionado, anyway). They offer oat and hemp milks as well as traditional dairy. You can get a huge variety of both hot and cold drinks: coffees, lattes, espressos, Americanos, etc. plus several cacao drinks, various herbal teas, including some with caffeine and some without. They offer numerous housemade sodas to order (even cacao soda)... Just too many drinks - cold and hot -to list here; even a "Dosha SOS" tea to recover balance if you're feeling a bit unwell. The food menu varies at Mountain Monk. It usually offers 5 or more "meal type" foods plus several excellent smoothies and desserts (they taste fantastic yet are also nutritious). Everything I've eaten or drunk there so far has been great, including the "shepherd's pie" made with Lion's Mane mushrooms instead of meat. Their "Pachamama Smoothie" is delicious yet supportive to the body. The decor is cheerful and inviting, soothing and light, with interesting art. The energy is laid back and friendly, inviting conversations with strangers if you're so inclined. In fact, Mountain Monk's goal is to be what sociologists term "a third place" beyond work and home, a place where people can meet our neighbors and friends, have conversations with Taos folks and visitors. Regenerative of humans, earth, and her beings. Mountain Monk also offers a very special huge grassy courtyard with tall tr

I usually go to coffee shops to meet people and be social. At Mountain Monk I find that not only the coffee, food, and the Monk herself (Lacy Archer) are fabulous but that I seem to find deep inner peace and even my True Self. Lacy and her place are magical. Come on by and dip your toes into the peace and interconnectness.

The moment one steps inside, you are transported to a world of calmness, excellent coffee and pastries. The owner, an incredibly kind soul, knows exactly what she wanted her place to be. Cute, adorable, do not do it justice. One mush visit to experience the positive vibe of Mountain Monk.

Cozy new location in Rancho de Taos. Vibrant colors. Relaxing environment. Excellent coffee and non-coffee options. Non dairy milks including almond and oat. Vegan and vegetarian food options, including a delicious green chile quiche and other baked goods. Outdoor patio with plenty of room to spread out. Great place to meet a friend or take a book.

(Kitchen open until 2pm) Immediately upon entering you feel relaxed. It was the perfect start to this experience. I ordered a house brew and the Sunrise Sammie (vegan). Alternative milk didn't cost extra which was a huge plus and there was a vegan option for almost everything including the baked goods!. The sandwich was amazing. The tempeh was cooked to perfection and the garlic dill hemp spread could easily be eaten alone, by the spoonful. What a great brunch location. Love this place, will be back many times.

I went in and asked what kind of muffins they had. The woman behind the counter said, "Blueberry, I think?". She handed me the muffin, charged me $6.05 (!?!?). I handed her $6.25, she gave me a dime back. The muffin was banana nut (I'm not allergic to nuts, but other people are), and the muffin was absolutely inedible. In. Edible. So in a 90-second encounter I was misinformed, short changed, and served terrible food for an absolutely outrageous price.

I love Mountain Monk! I think they have the best coffee! There are some really amazing baked goods to try along with the coffee and other drinks. They serve a wide variety of vegan items. Its a beautiful place with beautiful staff. This is an all woman owned business. I love the art and furniture. I often stop here before work and I always enjoy it!
