Chef Julio & the Pilar Yacht Club is the best! Driving from Taos to Santa Fe, we came upon this oasis of great food and warm hospitality in Pilar NM Delicious! Chile Rellenos to die for, overstuffed tamales, and Peanut the Tortilla Hound. You might just speed on past this funky little joint but, that'd be a mistake. Great homey food & service, "Food Wars, Order Up," painting on door, canyon views - eat on the porch surrounded by hummingbirds and take a break from the road here. If you're looking for a memorable meal, get those tamales! Warmth and hospitality in spades.
I stopped here for lunch. The conversation was as good as the burrito. Definitely give it a try. Sitting out front and eating in the fall sunlight was a beautiful experience.
Such amazing food! The staff is super friendly and I really enjoyed the experience! Highly recommended.
Yawn, keep on truckin'
Rico was helpful and awesome. $30 for a private shuttle on the Racetrack section of the Rio grande. They pick you up at your rig at the takeout and drive you back to the put in with your boat already there. Make sure to get there early for breakfast. Quite possibly the best breakfast burrito I've ever eaten.
Really tasty breakfast burritoes. Quiet outdoor ambience. Friendly attentive service. Really glad this place was only a few min from the rental home where we were staying. Gotta get back to try the chile relleno.
Keep driving.
We drive all the way from Taos for Julio’s home cooking and Rico’s amazing river stories. My home all summer we love the Pilar yatch Club:)
Alright, been in New Mexico for 7 days and this is by far one of the best meals we had on the trip. Their Chilli Relleno burrito was great! On the way to Taos from Santa Fe via the Rio Grande road. I am glad we took a pit stop at this cute little place!
Loved it! Had the green poblano burrito. Best ever!
Great food! And you can get a shuttle
Amazing chili relleno burrito!
Friendly staff and great food. Play toys for the river too
I have passed by this place many times and finally my wife and I stopped and are we glad we did! Neat little hole in the wall with excellent food, a fun staff and a really neat place to experience. Julio whips up great, authentic cuisine leaning toward true Mexican, but with spice. I enjoyed the Chicken Flautas (made scratch to order) with some nice green chili, real refried beans and scratch rice. My wife lauded over her tamale plate with red sauce. If you are visiting the Rio Grande Gorge Visitors Center, which is right across the street, or just passing through, this is a great place to stop, fill-up on chow and relax.
Small, but really nice people
Friendly service, good food.
Friendly and honest service!
Perfect pit stop for going hiking or a road trip.
Cool little spot with fantastic food! Skip the tourist info spot across the street. Go in and talk shop with this family owned gem.
Great trip! Our guide Nick was a baller and made it very chill but we still had some fun bumps and waves along the way. Definitely coming back! Paddle 5
