Very cute place and a simple menu! The atmosphere is relaxing and inviting. They even have a book exchange (how cute!) The coffee is GREAT tasting and so are the pastries. My husband got the (hot) Bison and I got the (hot) Roadrunner. We shared a cherry turnover. The coffees are the right amount of coffee, flavor, and a perfect amount of sweetness. My husband had the turnover warmed. O. M. G. 🤤 Every bite was DELICIOUS. We were fighting over the last bite. Highly recommend starting your morning here!
There's something not right when after ordering there's a 20 minute wait for a cappuccino.
Our favorite Old Town ABQ spot hidden in a lush courtyard surrounded by local shops and a fountain. Highly suggest!
Tasty, and cute atmosphere! I had an iced mocha with the chipotle and chocolate - yum! Not too sweet, lots of flavor. Decor was cute, with lots of local art of black birds.
The best croissant I’ve ever had and the cold brew is amazing! If you’re looking for a local coffee place this is it!
I would highly recommend the iced blackbird latte
Not good. Iced mocha tasted like chocolate milk. Also they said they would bring our drinks to us since we were sitting outside with our dog. Watched other people come and go. Finally went in and the drinks were sitting there with the ice melting. We mentioned what was said and just got a shrug. Only giving it 2 stars because the chai was okay. Way too expensive for lousy drinks and service
My personal choice for best coffee shop in ABQ (and I've been to many). I always order the Blackbird hot latte because it's my favorite, though my husband has branched out, and I've liked the drinks he tried as well. Sipping coffee in the garden outside the shop is a dream.
Blackbird offers a steeply priced hot chocolate which holds its own. It contained milk that tasted like 2%, but may have been whole, just warmed but not frothed fully. It was topped with whipped cream and garnish which made the first few sips rich. Near the end of the cup, the chocolate flavor began to subside. I liked the environment, warm bricky hues with neutral splashes of color here and there. The chocolate chip crossiant they have is incredibly rich and delicious compared to other cafés offerings. It needed a little bit of extra time in the oven to warm in the middle. It was hard to cut with just the fork and I'd recommend knives to be provided as well, and I wound up using my fingers which brought shards of buttery pastry all over their table and cozy green bench (im sorry!) I cleaned it the best I could. Would definitely return! If you are hungry for something substantial to munch on, I would recommend a sit down place for hungry tourists and burquenos alike. I ended up paying $11 for the pastry and hot chocolate alone, but there are several breakfast places in that 13-20 per plate and drink range that offer that Instagram-worthy foodie.
I've had a couple lattes here which have been stellar. Ava and Will were super nice to talk to today.
I enjoyed my visit here very much. The coffee is very good and there are many unique choices as well as the traditional coffee drinks. There is a very nice selection of very good desserts. There was a short wait for me to make my order at the counter but the service was very efficient. They will place your order on the counter and call it out but there is no speaker so make sure to pay attention when they place orders on the counter.
Wonderful tea lattes and other drinks. Unique crafted ingredients to the southwest. Wonderful ambience and outdoor area. Just go here if you love coffee.
Excellent Coffee ☕ Beautiful Outside Environment 🌱 Peaceful Inside Vibe ☀️
ordered a traditional latte, and it was probably one of the best coffees I've ever had! it was lovely, just the right amount of sweetness and milk, plus the coffee taste was still intact and bright! the size was okay, I would have preferred if the large was a bit bigger. the servers were also very nice. my only issue is that flavoured syrup cost a whole extra dollar, as did dairy alternative. I understand an extra 50c, but a buck? as someone who is lactose intolerant, that really makes going out so much more expensive! but otherwise, I'd stop in again. it was great coffee, and the cafe itself was very colourful.
Nice ambiance. Reasonable price. Food quality? We only bought the quiche since the food choices was very limited. But for sure the matcha peach cold tea was terrific :)
Outstanding coffee spot. After ordering the roadrunner hot and iced, I can see why this is a customer favorite. They have NM tea co hot teas and always craft a little shape at the top of the latte. Excellent service, great ambiance and delish lattes. Blackbird is the full meal deal!
Cool little coffee shops to try.
Paper cups--yuck! Coffee was so-so. Food was not so great. Tourist trap.
