I really wanted to like this place as it is super close to my house and my husband and I need a reliable roaster since we like to buy fresh beans to use in our espresso machine at home.. but this place isn't it. The espresso beans are just ok which doesn't warrant the price tag on them. Besides that idk what system they are using for customer ordering because it's super disorganized in there. We came in when it was pretty busy and they lost the order slips and couldn't figure out which drink was who's.
Can't say much about the atmosphere of the place but the coffee it's self is not very good. If you get milk drinks it really helps to mask the flavor of the espresso but if you don't, the coffee its self isn't roasted very well. Beans are not sorted, tons of chaf and underdeveloped. For 18 dollars a bag of coffee I expected to get something comparable to other roasters and it's just not there. I've tried over 50 bags of coffee before leaving a review and I must say I was disappointed every time. Sorry guys.

A proper coffee joint! What a pleasure to find a coffee shop that clearly knows, understands, and cares about coffee. Imho, the popular coffee chains have ruined coffee and mostly serve sugar filled coffee drinks. Black River actually knows the difference between a flat white, cortado and latte. Wish it was closer. It's a one hour drive for me. That should tell you how good it is at Black River!

Excellent coffee and speciality lattes, including hot chocolate. Spacious and styled interior with smiling staff. Comfortable lounge with relaxing tables and cozy corners, defined by ample natural light. Wisps of countercultural energy. Vibrant and welcoming crowd. Good energy.

Great people, atmosphere and of course the cappuccino's are phenomenal!
The crazy amount of flavor they get out of their beans is second to none. There are some very capable roasters now in NJ, but this one is at the head of the pack. Always recommend them to even casual coffee drinkers. Whether it's a cappuccino or pour over, you can't go wrong.

Love, love, love the coffee. Best coffee ever. I just sincerely wish that the staff was better :( It is painful to order and wait for coffee and it is often wrong. Dear owner, please hire better staff or me and many others will likely not come anymore. Please!!!!!! Keep your business alive and invest in some good staff!!!
Was driving down 22 when someone cut me off and hard turned into the driveway, thought to myself “that must be some fine coffee to risk your car and safety for”. Went in the following week to try for myself and was not disappointed. Bought a bag of beans and a latte. Thanks to some fool you made a new customer I guess.
The only thing I miss about this area! I love local Coffee Shops. This one is probably in my top 5. I still get beans there whenever I'm in the area.
Was not impressed with the chai. Too spicy and the person behind the counter was condescending explaining that Frappuccino was made up by Starbucks and not a real thing. Will not be back
Coffee and prices are good but they need to work on their speed. Sometimes it takes up 10min to get a cup of cappuccino. They have enough staff they are just not organized….Or maybe get another espresso machine so that two people can make drinks simultaneously.
Good coffee, cool place; the lounge has a cool vibe with concert pics and posters. Nice people working there.
