The cutest coffee place. My boyfriend is an airline pilot and loved the plane schematics on the wall and the airline style seating.
papers plane coffee co is both a great coffee shop, and an experience! I believe the owner was working at the register. he was super knowledgeable, kind, and thoroughly explained the drink menu (their drink menu is super fun, I love their coffee concoctions and crazy drink flavors that I normally wouldn’t try). while waiting for the drinks to be made, the decor is inviting and completely unique. their coffees matched their decor: creative and comforting! this is one of my favorite coffee shops not just in NJ but anywhere
Delicious and innovative coffee in a fun, plane-themed shop. A great place to stop for a coffee or get some work done in Montclair. And their beans are perfect for coffee at home!
Nice, chic, modern coffee spot. Staffs are super friendly and actually looked happy to take your order. Lots of seating, I especially love the airplane seats and windows. They also have a variety of caffeinated drinks and even some clever concoctions like West Side Story - guava nectar, sweetened condensed milk and espresso.
Omg , I love this place so much. It is very clean, coffee delicious. It has a ground coffee machine too . I highly recommend this place for to start your day with a coffee cup.
After reading some of the other reviews, I felt compelled to contribute some thoughts. The comments about “cost”, should be eliminated immediately from this discussion. At Paper Planes you receive a substantial beverage that has been curated and made exclusively by coffee chefs. Recently, I reluctantly purchased a coffee from a big chain coffee shop and ordered a hot brown water (they called it coffee) that charged me an extra 2 dollars just for the dairy of my choice (Paper Planes never penalized you for your choice of dairy). At the end of my transaction, the cost of my coffee was significantly more than the cost a of Paper Planes coffee. I’m not sure how much some of these critics want to pay for a coffee, but in the New York metro area, one expects that a good cup will cost you $4-$6. If this is an issue, stay home and learn how to boil water. If you don’t appreciate the flavor, your taste buds clearly have not graduated to good taste. Furthermore, Paper Planes has given a much needed destination for Montclair residents. There is a good reason why there is a constant fast moving line of coffee loving guests every time. The atmosphere, music, staff, and of course the coffee will bring me back weekly! A brilliant place to do your work, meet friends, or just silently sip. 10 stars!
Great selection of coffee Jut the line is too long But is worth it
I love their coffee + aesthetic. My biggest concern is that they wouldn’t warm my ham & cheese croissant. So if you sit there to eat you are expected to eat cold food. I think that’s unacceptable for the price point.
went here with my friends and the coffee's and chocolate are so flavorful. Must try their banana coffee its blue i am going to go again ! the place looks great on the inside and its a great place for a date as well
Creative coffee offerings with comfortable seating and an immersive airplane theme! The cold brew drafts here are particularly unique. Try the Voodoo if you're up for a kick of strong spices and flavors. I had the hot Butterbroo, soo creamy and smooth! They have decaf options available too. We'll have to come back to try some of the cascara flavors! The bathroom was spacious, artsy, and most importantly, clean.
Loved the Nam Dam. Perfect amount of cardamom. Great space with some clever decorating.
Props and respect to the designer of this place. To be able to sit in an airplane seat and have your coffee? Way cool. And sit in a 60s/70s vibe chairs, spaciousnesses, and very loungey…..you can tell there was a lot of attention to details….even to the bathroom! Coffee? Oh yeah that. Well I had a very flavorful mocha and a huge tasty croissant. Can’t wait to try more. Hats off to the owner…..they definitely spent $$$& on the place. And a very nice friendly staff too!
This place is the best! The coffee is delicious, the decor is adorable, and the baristas are super friendly. Plenty of fun menu items, too! My favorite coffee shop in the area for sure.
+ good coffee + fancy pour overs + all the modern coffee choices + cool, hip atmosphere - mediocre pastries Best cafe in Montclair
Super cute coffee shop! Loved the interior and vibe. The coffee was pretty good. We tried the polychrome and another drink on the Science menu that I can’t remember the name of. Loved the seating area that resembled the inside of an airplane. So cool! Staff was also very friendly. Definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area. But plan to wait a little bit. Seems like it can get pretty busy and packed. Especially on a Saturday morning or early afternoon. Now for my standard COVID comments as of April 2023. No one is wearing masks. I felt comfortable in the shop but do notice that it could get crowded when waiting in line. Besides that, it was all good.
Stay fly, Paper Plane Coffee Co. crew! The culture at this newly renovated shop is something one can enjoy experiencing while sipping on one their unique "science" coffee menu items ( I suggest the Polychrome). You'll find students from the nearby Montclair State University ( proud alumni here) to real estate agents discussing closing sales to HR looking through their notes. Of course, part of the great experience is also seeing the diverse and charismatic Paper Plane Coffee Co. crew providing excellent customer experiences. Thank you!
Coffee was good. Not a super convenient place to hang out and work.
Such a creative space! The coffee was great. I would definitely recommend checking it out
My boyfriend and I love this coffee spot! It’s so cute, the staff is so friendly, and the coffee is good. I only wish the Tainted Love, February special, was a permanent item! It was so good. Definitely recommend going here. And hoping dogs are allowed in again soon - I know they’re working on this point so we’re very excited to be able to walk our dog and grab a coffee at the same time!
This is my favorite coffee shop in Montclair. My usual is either the iced Voodoo or Mayan Latte. Both are excellent and have flavors that are very unique. If you’re looking for a typical, chain coffee shop with boring black coffee, this isn’t the spot. I apparently go at off peak hours bc it’s never too busy when I’m there but I’ve heard from friends that it’s near impossible to get a seat inside during the rush. For me, this is a grab and go spot.
