A wonderful inn with a fantastic staff in a beautiful riverside country setting. Delicious breakfasts. Conveniently located to many local recreational options, restaurants, shopping, hiking trails, golf courses, and other attractions.
We had an incredible stay over MDW. Even though the Inn was packed, our service was attentive and top-tier. We loved the freshly baked welcome cookies and the fantastic morning breakfast. During your stay, don’t miss the chance to wind down by the river. Also highly recommended making a reservation for Thompson House Eatery across the street!
My wife and I come here every year for our anniversary. We love it here. Everyone is very nice. Breakfast is always amazing. Best bacon in New Hampshire. Ellis river is a very quiet and relaxing place.
Mary and John were very welcoming. The bed was comfortable, great breakfast. The sound of the river can put you to sleep. Me and my wife had a great vacation.
This was our 1st time staying but definitely won't be the last. The house was great and Mary, John and Christine are incredible hosts. Can't wait to go back in the summer.
If you are looking for a peaceful night's sleep in a cozy, comfortable bed complete with a delectable, full breakfast and genuinely warm hospitality, then your search should end right here. We spent a memorable overnight in Diana's Bath, a lovely, large, second floor room (one of the historic original owner's bedrooms) with a working, wood burning fireplace. We woke up to a view of the colorful reflected sunrise just beyond the Ellis River. Breakfast was a leisurely & delicious experience of fresh fruit, fluffy omlet for me & fresh blueberry pancakes for him, and a fun visit with both Mary & John. The beautiful, historic inn has been lovingly preserved and the attention to detail is apparent everywhere you look. There's even a small bar & game room! And did I mention what a great value it was? I hope you stay there and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
My husband and I stayed at the Inn at Ellis River in September. What a most fantastic stay! John and Mary are the best hosts! From a comfortable room, wonderful breakfast, beautiful surroundings, it is the warm welcome and attention that get our over the top recommendation!
Conveniently located for a variety of activities. Beautiful setting. The staff was fun, friendly and professional. Inn and grounds well maintained and a wonderful place to unwind.
Great place nice people. Perfect location and awesome breakfast. 👌
Wonderful Inn! The bed was so comfy and the breakfast was delicious!! Mary and the staff were so attentive to our needs. We would definitely stay here again.
We truly enjoyed the Inn at Ellis River at the end of July 2022. The location is perfect - just off the road but quiet with the river running behind it. It's just a short walk to excellent restaurants, perfect for a morning or evening stroll. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The food is fantastic. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed away from home. The pool was great since the weather was hot. And it's not much of a drive from the B&B to lots of great White Mountain hiking. Thank you - we look forward to our next visit!
Had a wonderful relaxing stay at this home away from home. Had a room with a balcony overlooking the Ellis River. We really enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the sun in the dry cool fall air with a hot cup of coffee. Also, breakfast was perfect every morning. The staff really goes above and beyond. Thank you!
Beautiful, old Inn. Our room was the Silver Cascade room ( all named after area waterfalls), and it was clean and adorable with a big deck looking out to the river. My only complaint was the tired bed mattress. It was queen size with a hump in the middle, between us. The breakfast was very good. They offer one of two choices of their own cooked dishes, preceded by a muffin, granola or croissant.
5 star experience. High end linens and delicious breakfasts rounded out this wonderful stay. Innkeepers were knowledgeable about local dining. Many things to do in the area and hiking trails to explore. Aces in my book.
This inn is truly wonderful. The location is perfect. The rooms are charming in an old-fashioned way, and well-kept and clean. The breakfasts are delicious and substantial, just what is needed for a morning of cross-country skiing. Most importantly, though, are the owners and staff. They are personable and welcoming and always willing to help. They are fun - you want to be their friend and talk to them all the time (although that is probably not good for them because they surely need to be doing the other things required to run an inn). There is a sense of history of how they came to own the inn and how it integrates into their life and the community. I could go on and on. In short, I highly recommend the Inn at Ellis River and I hope I can return for another stay in the not too distant future.
We just got back from a unforgettable stay for our “babymoon”! We had such a sweet surprise waiting for us when we checked into our room (Paradise Falls) for booking the babymoon package. Everyone who works at the Inn was so friendly and pleasant and we especially loved the resident pup, Emma : ) Breakfast each morning was fresh and delicious. We also enjoyed lunch one day at J-Town Deli and had a phenomenal dinner up the road at The Wentworth Inn. Thanks for a great stay, Mary and John!!! Tara Palmer
Historic cozy Inn with fantastic breakfast. Family owned and operated with great attention to detail
Excellent location and very friendly owners. We stayed in the Franconia Room which was very nice and comfortable. It has a walk out patio to the pool area. Only downfalls were the sink is in an awkward area and no mini fridge.
Wonderful Inn! We enjoyed our stay tremendously. What a perfect, cozy place to come back to after a long day of winter hiking. The breakfast every morning was superb and the home baked goodies in the afternoon were a nice treat. The owners are so friendly and thoughtful. The room and bed were very comfortable; the one we stayed in had a nice electric fireplace for ambiance and warmth. They even have a game room with a bar, dart board, pool table and other games so we didn't even have to leave the property to hang out. We would definitely stay here again when in the area.
The owners and staff alike were very hospitable, inclusive, welcoming, and helpful. Staying here felt like stepping back into the late 1800s/early 1900s Era. Almost every piece of furniture is or looks like an antique. The jetted tub, gas fireplace in bedroom, and private patio were some of our favorite features for our wintery weekend getaway. The breakfasts were very tasty and nicely balanced. Very romantic. We also enjoyed being in a quiet place. Website states not suitable for children under 12 and it certainly maintained a peaceful and relaxing stay without worrying about running children's footsteps and infantile screaming. As we were leaving we had an unfinished bottle of wine we didn't want to go to waste and Mary, one of the sweet owners, went out of her way to find us a cork to preserve it so we could take it back home with us. I would consider coming back and recommending to others.
