It’s unfortunate how a bad experience can change your perception of an establishment. I’ve only ever ordered through Uber or take out and decided go try eating in this time. I wasn’t sure how this place worked, order a s sit yourself or they come to your table, etc. we clearly looked lost, standing in front of the two young girls, no acknowledgement- hi, hello, just a minute, etc. nothing, as they were counting the tips. I finally asked if we ordered up front, she didn’t even look up and said you need to hold on. Great, we looked over the menu, even once we were ready, we still had to wait because they were discussing how they were going to short their co-worker of his/her tips. Once done, one girl was leaving, the other one (black hair, thin, wearing a necklace that said “Milagros”, spoke Spanish) just looked up at us without saying anything. Again, no hi sorry for the wait, what can I get you. Nothing. We order- carnitas torta, breakfast burrito super sized, and decided to get a pastry. None were labeled so I described which one, and she sassily says “the coffee cake??”, like it’s not obvious for someone who’s never tried coffee cake. It took everything in me to not get smart with her. Before the food came out, the black haired girl, drops off the pastry and doesn’t say anything. She brought us a biscuit looking bread. My husband took it back to ask for the correct one, i was facing the counter so I saw her facial expression when he turned, and she rolled her eyes! My husband had to talk me out of not giving her a piece of my mind. I was floored, she makes a mistake and gets frustrated with us? Food comes out. All looks good, my husband then noticed that there is no avocado, sour cream, etc. in the burrito and we paid a few extra dollars for this. He takes it back. By this point the other girl who had left had came back to make her and her family coffee and food. They were talking and the black hair girl tells her that we better tip! I wasn’t planning on tipping f
Variety of options on the menu: good Pricey for a breakfast stop. I didn't expect to pay $6.99 for a glass of fresh squeezed OJ. The OJ was good 😲.
We ordered latte but left with warm milk. It was gross.
The service has gotten better, but the price for a drink and burrito costs you close to $30 now.
This was the meeting location for this week's running group, so when we finished a group of about 8-10 of us went in for coffee/breakfast. The service was welcoming and friendly and happily accommodated our group. I had a cappuccino and the Smash Walden breakfast sandwich. I don't know if they make their own sausage or source it, but it was YUMMY! Will definitely have it again.
Wow! Amazing food! Amazing coffee! And such a cute relaxed environment.
This is one of the best restaurants in Reno. I can eat five of their Almond Bear Claws in one sitting. Everyone go here!
Food is fresh and very yummy. Love the country, rustic, and cheek feel of the place.
Walden's is always a tough one for me. Their food and coffee is delicious, though pricey. But we'll happily pay a bit more for tasty, good quality food. Everything I've ever ordered from here has been great!! And the breakfast burrito is usually filling enough that I have half left over for lunch. It comes with a fantastic (house?) salsa too! But the service... I've given this location a few tries recently, and the last few times, they've come up short. We went to order a simple takeout order from the counter. The employee taking our order could not have looked more annoyed if she tried. She entered the order then stared at me as if to imply, "are you done?" To be fair, she didn't say this, so it could be my own discomfort in our interaction. But it is off-putting to walk into a restaurant and feel as if you are inconveniencing someone to take your order. Perhaps she thought we wouldn't tip? We also thought maybe this is just her personality, but the way she interacted with other employees spoke otherwise. Props to the young man who called our name and then walked our order to us. My hearing isn't always the best and I had my back to the counter, so this was very considerate and helpful.
Way over priced. $15 for three pancakes is absurd. I don't care what their reasoning is for it being that expensive it's ridiculous. On top of that they expect a tip but you have to get your own utensils and clean up your own mess and they give you your food in a to go container even if you are eating there.
Maybe because it was snowing, but we showed up on a Sunday morning and there was plenty of room to sit and eat. Our food was really tasty, especially the Birdie sandwich.
Meghan (barista at Waldens Wells location) deserves 10 stars! My husband and I just welcomed our first baby into the world- decided to stop by to get a coffee and Meghan’s customer service was over the top. It’s rare you come across a hard working employee who seems to truly enjoy their job and engages with customers. We’ll be back just because of her :)
Lovely atmosphere and delicious breakfast
We must have come on an off day because our experience was the opposite of most of these reviews. The service was painfully slow and the staff was inattentive and unprofessional. There were three of them behind the counter not doing anything except complaining about a previous customer’s order while there was a long line. The coffee was good but they got one of our drink orders wrong. Just really disappointed.
The breakfast burrito is so good!
Giving four stars only because it felt a little pricey for the amount of food we got. But the food was delicious and the service was great.
The avocado toast here is insane!! Get it with a poached egg. You won't be disappointed! We found this place on a whim and went back twice!! It is well located in the midtown area. Easy drive from Atlantis,Peppermill or any of the casinos on casino row.
Great local buisness. Owners are very nice. Perfect place for breakfast. Breakfast burritos are huge.
