This place has a little eclectic for everyone. Not everything is kid friendly as far as language is concerned so parents pay attention.

I sold jewelry here when I was in high school. It just keeps evolving with the times. New owners are adding some flair of their own to the great coffee drinks and teas from all over the world that can be drunk in rustic nooks. I dare you to find them all on a first visit, or to not leave with great cards or chocolate to share. with others. This is just the tip of the mountain of wacky candies and vintage games you find here. Love the Tall House Special coffee and the Cranberry, mint rooibos tea-hot or cold.

Helenas one, only, multifunctional, multi-dimensional hip coffee shop. Tons of doodads, cards and fun gifts make for a great browsing experience. The coffee is stellar, made from a hand press espresso machine. Say hello to the huge carp swimming in the small pool. It must be decades old. Definitely a must see in Helena.

I grew up drinking italian sodas here as a kid, but I tried the coffee here today for the first time, and it was wonderful! So much tastier than Starbucks. It made me sad though that they ripped out the cool seating right in the front and put in the long table. It was a lot cooler before! Also seems a bit silly that they don’t allow laptops or wifi, I get it, but at the same time you’re kind of dissuading young people from coming? Seem like something a boomer would do.

The hot chocolate here is really good. If you want to have an experience at a local shop with fun stuff for adults, this is the place. If you bring your children so they can experience something fun, hope that that can’t read. A lot of the gifts have swear words all over them. My 9yo found a book titled “100 ways to eat cock”. While the folks around us probably thought it was hilarious, I now have to explain to him what that’s about. It’s funny as an adult, but I’d say this place really isn’t for kids to have a undistracted, unplugged, board game moment with their parents.

Coffee is good. I watched a waitress yell at a customer for asking for a drink on loan. I figured a simple no would have sufficed. She yelled at him for 5 minutes for asking, then complained about him for the next 30 minutes. The next day I went in and I was told to take my coffee to go because I pulled out an iPad. The business was completely empty, and I had it out for 3 mins. No need for attitude. I even asked for a second latte. Was denied because I kept my iPad on the table. Not on, not playing anything just on table. “Sending the wrong message” is what I was told? Dude it’s a coffee shop.

What a gem of a shop, from fun souvenirs to cute gifts they have something for everyone. Then what really exceeds expectations is the chocolate bars... bar where they have chocolates from all over the world pairing amazingly with the espresso drinks served up. All while being in a historic building in downtown Helena with small nooks to hide away and enjoy your treats. Would highly recommend visiting, "The Merc".

Excellent place to buy a gift or souvenir. It's fun to explore this shop, and the espresso is among the best in Helena.

If your looking for funny or unusual gifts and candy that your parents might have liked this is the place for you. They used to have sandwiches a long time ago but now it's just some pastries and drinks . I didn't care for all the nasty stuff, it was too much of it. They have a nice selection of sauces etc..though .
