Found this many years ago when I was still a teenager. My dad's friend was a truck driver and recommended the place to us. Although we don't live very far away from a we had no idea it was there. I'm from Southeast Idaho just north of Idaho Falls in a little town called Menan only 10 miles away from I-15 which drives you right past the what was then called The School House Calf-A. I had of course been up into Montana a few times but after my brother went to the University of Idaho we had occasion to drive that way many times. That became our regular stop from then on. I hear they have done some renovations on it and it looks good from the pictures. But I really kind of like the ambience before. It was a little bit shabby looking but it had the feel of a one room schoolhouse that have been well used. It was a regular stop for truck drivers. I also heard stories that people would fly their small planes in and land on the road in front of it. Great little place to go. Unfortunately haven't been there for years and haven't seen renovations but great little place to go in a small town to support a small business that is really cool and keeps history alive. What were you saying

It's WONDERFUL! I have been to this little gem for many, many years. I've watched it change over that time, but only in its decor, owners & the name. At one time the school's original interior greeted you, with menu on the chalkboard. The yard held home-made iron work creatures. This changed to printed menus, sold off school memorabilia & yard ornaments. But always had food that was talked about across the nation by truckers and train crews. Now new changes, starting with the name, which is what most called it before. The Old School House. It will still provide you with Wonderful food, Wonderful owners/operators! I hope the customers can get it known from coast to coast again.

Hadn't been here since new owners bought it. They did some re-decorating and spruced it up nicely. They now have a gift shop too! Food and service was excellent! We'll be back!

DON'T EXPECT GOOD SERVICE IF YOU'RE NOT LOCAL! Really disappointing experience! Don't expect quick or decent service or hot coffee. We ordered the last of the cinnamon rolls while being sat at our table. We were given cold coffee and as we watched our cinnamon rolls were intentionally sold to a regular. After complaining to both the husband and wife owner, their only response was to ask if I wanted to buy a bran muffin. That was a definite no! They had no interest in righting their wrong or even apologizing for their blantant rudness. This place is very difficult to take children as the meals take well over 30 minutes after ordering. The bill was expensive as we paid over 55 dollars for biscuits and gravy, simple eggs/ham plate and a 2 pancakes. A complete waste of time, located in an area with the worst road conditions in Montana!

We stopped here for breakfast, and were not disappointed. Shanna was friendly and welcoming. The space is inviting and interesting to see all the historical artifacts. However it was the food that will bring us back here! The BLT was filled with thick cut bacon fresh tomatoes and lettuce and to die for scratch made sourdough bread. The fries were thick hand cut and not greasy. Sausage and eggs cooked perfectly nothing processed no grease. My husband said one of the best breakfasts he’s had We also sampled the in house made doughnut holes, and had to take a doughnut to go. Delish!!! This place is a gem and not to be missed! Thank you Shanna and family.

This place was fantastic! We came in for a lunch while charging our EV at the station across the street. We just walked over, very close. Had the chicken fried steak and it was the best one I've ever had. The gravy was fantastic. Came with a pancake and real butter and maple syrup and hashbrowns. Had a very good ice tea too. The guy and gal working were very nice too. A bit of a feel good story our cat had gone missing back at home and we were in the thick of contacting agencies when we got there to the restaurant. When we left they sent well wishes with us that our kitty would be found soon. By the time we got back to the car I received a call our cat was found. Great things happen in Dell. We were so hungry and stressed we forgot to get a picture but wish we would have. Yum. We actually loved it. Thanks so much.

You must visit this hidden gem. If you are anywhere close to Dillon, Montana you have to stop in. We were lucky to have discovered this family owned cafe on our recent road trip. The food was fresh, made from scratch and delicious. The chicken strips were the best my husband has ever had!! I had the grilled ham and cheese sandwich on homemade sourdough with hand cut steak fries. It was also amazing. And we couldn't leave without some of their homemade strawberry rhubarb cobbler and a jar of the schoolhouse spice they use to season their chicken strips and burgers. The customer service was warm and inviting. If that's not enough, we enjoyed our meal in a charming old schoolhouse.

Delicious & Adorable! We were told to stop here and eat on our way to Idaho from Dillon, MT. Im so glad we did! We split the homemade biscuits w/sausage gravy & 2 eggs... wow! Serving size was huge and we inhaled it! My husband and I fought over the last few bites. The owners work so hard and it shows. They bought it a little over a year ago, cleaned it up and kept so much charm and history of the historic 1903 school house. Don't judge a book by it's cover. And don't forget to tip. :)

Great Cafe with fresh hand made food. The hand cut fries were my favorite, thick steak style russets. Delicious coffee and friendly service as well.
