Espresso was over-roasted and had an odd tepid flavor. (I drink a lot of dark roast espresso grinding 35 lb/yr for personal consumption.) I couldn't finish my drink. My wife said the coffee in the hotel room was better. On the plus side, my breakfast burrito and her waffle were first rate.
Great Black owned coffee shop!!! Amazing atmosphere that encourages connection!
in a gas station shell sits Northwest a haven for the weary souls where coffee's magic stirs the best and joy, it gently rolls the baristas don their aprons bright with smiles upon their face they serve with grace and kind delight a warm and welcome embrace the aroma dances in the air a symphony of roasted bliss each sip, a taste of heaven's care a moment not to miss the espresso, bold and strong it flows like rivers in the morn awakening senses with its prose a symphony, reborn the pastries, they tempt and beckon me with flavors sweet and divine from croissants flaky, to muffins so free a feast for tastebuds, all mine but beyond the coffee's splendid taste it's the ambiance that ensnares the cozy nooks, a tranquil space where troubles turn to air the art adorning vibrant walls an ode to creativity's flight as caffeine's spirit calls in words, a dazzling light so if you seek a respite true where poems dance and dreams are sown Northwest, dear friend, is calling you to a world uniquely its own
Cool outdoor space. Very good latte and danish.
Everything about this place is terrible and it isn't worth a visit. For a place with a giant wall mural of "Control the Narrative," they sure were quick to treat me as less than and talk down to me. That is, when they bothered to acknowledge me at all after standing at the counter for 10 minures without so much as a look. Everybody in this shop was rude and couldn't be bothered with me today. Once they got my money, they were even ruder. If this is how you "Control the Narrative," then I don't want anything to do with you. Next week's episode of the STL Coffee Tour is going to be short! Don't go here. They're not worth the wait. (Edited spelling)
I stopped here for coffee and I have found a new happy place. Very cool setting to sit and get some work done and have great coffee. Service was friendly and prices were reasonable. I didn’t get a pastry this time but they looked delicious. Definitely headed back!!
This is a must stop if you're in the St Louis area. I had a macchiato which was delicious. Perfect amount of espresso to milk. My partner had a latte with the perfect amount of sweetness that she asked for. If you love coffee this is your spot!
There's better coffee shops for the money. I went for the first time today. Had no idea that they didn't like people standing near the counter to wait for their drink. One of the girls behind the counter very rudely told us to leave and wait for our order. We had no idea how we'd know our order was ready so just took a seat outside. They eventually called our order over the intercom. The drink was just okay there were grounds at the bottom. Less than average experience.
the coffee is excellent, but the food definitely leaves something to be desired (especially the egg wrap)
Their entry set up was a bit weird- sign said only one person at a time could be in the ordering area but the converted outside area was nice with heaters and benches----- strawberry latte was really good- they have a restroom in the back.
Bad espresso, bad leaky and smelly place. Would recommend finding somewhere else for your coffee.
Cute place, love the vibe. But is it worth waiting 30 minutes for a latte? Absolutely not. It seems like maybe they need more workers? If you’re looking for a quick stop to grab coffee before work, you might consider ordering ahead of going somewhere else.
My latte was delicious. Very friendly staff.
For being a black owned coffee shop they sure have a bunch of young rude white girls. Everytime I go in there i feeel ignored and they rush me but I see white customers getting the best treatment. I don’t know what’s going on. This is common in stl I guess. Better customer service would make this place awesome. Also u aren’t allowed to wait in the lobby by the barrista so usually you are rudely told to get out. A sign up on the wall would be nice then people aren’t being constantly told to get out
We went there at 10 am to get coffee and breakfast and they told us they ran out of food for the day. I am so tired of restaurants that don't have ingredients to make food on their menu. Maybe if they cared about their patrons, they would run to the grocery store and buy more supplies instead of serving excuses.
We have been customers since 2014 of Northwest Coffee. After recent experience I don’t feel it is what it used to be (was more about transparency rather than the cost of the drink). While the beans are good and I appreciate the response from the Facebook messenger-I most likely will think about coming here next rather than being my go-to.
Cozy, spacious, and lots of personality. This place is a little gem, and the lavender latte was very good. The coffee is roasted on site, which flavors the experience. There’s a lot of heart that goes into roasting, and you can feel it infused into the space!
Took forever to make coffee, far longer than any other coffee shop. Nothing can be worth the wait
A great option if you're in the CWE area. A vast drink menu. I got a Carmel latte, it was a perfect amount of sweetness.
The ambience is good. My first experience was not the best. But recently I have liked their espresso drinks. Also a good place to work. Can get busy at times. I'll recommend their coffee over food. An update: I seem to love their drinks the more I come here, specially the mocha. Make sure to sign up for the rewards to get free drinks from time to time.
