One of my favorite bookstores. I always love to check out the gems of items they have for sale. Located on the beautiful Lexington MO square.
We were in town for a few hours and I had read reviews about River Reader. They don’t do it justice! What a fantastic jewel for Lexington! Very inviting atmosphere, wonderful selection of books and gifts, great coffee/tea menu, cozy little area for kids in the back… if I lived closer, I would be there every day. The owner was so engaging - she is very well connected in the community and knowledgeable. Highly, highly recommend!
This is by far my favorite bookstore! Pat always has great hot drinks, (I recommend the brown sugar cinnamon hot latte) and perfect book recommendations!!

THE best(the BEST) place to pop in for a hot drink on a cold day, have a nice conversation with the thoughtful and lovely owner, and pick up a book (or two) before you go. If what you're looking for isn't on the shelf, Pat is always happy to get it for you.
This place is a jewel! Worth a drive to visit. Their selection of books for a small shop is impressive. I especially go there for the children's books. They carry the most diverse selection in one place! It's also a coffee shop so it smells heavenly. The atmosphere and charm of the place coupled with conversation with the kind-hearted owner makes this a one of a kind experience!! SHOP INDEPENDENT BOOK STORES!!
Went here for the first time this morning. Wonderful atmosphere and great tea! Had a wonderful woman check me out that didn't mind talking to me for a bit. Highly recommend and will be returning!
Nice indie bookstore with great people there to help. It was my first time there but won't be my last. Get a cup of coffee and a cookie while you're there, yum!
It is amazing that there is even a book store in a small town like Lexington! The business has a clever way of supporting local teachers. Great food and beverages! Wonderful people that works there!
Outstanding service and selections, great coffee and beverage bar, fresh baked cookies and brownies. Very committed to youth reading activities and opportunities. An excellent representative of the community!
Great little bookstore and coffee shop
Best bookstore and coffee shop in Missouri. It's worth the trip to Lexington, to have a cup of joe and to buy from the large selection of new books, toys, and games. Friendly staff.
