Great, out of the way, an old-time type of store in Caledonia, Missouri. This store has a lot of old time candies and stuff. Great ice cream. Forth the visit if your headed down Hwy 21 between Potosi and Ironton. Or you can get to it on Hwy 32 out of Bismarck, Mo. They have great pumpkin Festival and such.

I'm going to be honest, I'd never heard of the Old Village Mercantile or even Caledonia, MO. A Facebook article popped up on my feed last Saturday and after hearing about it I drove an hour to get there to check it out! Glad I did...we had a lovely time and got some awesome treats. Also, since I'm diabetic I very much appreciate the availability of the sugar free syrups for coffee and I even bought some sugar free peanut butter mini cups and they are soooo good!

It's a little pricey, but just a fun and neat place to visit. Lots of sweets from which to choose, and they brew craft coffees. It's like walking into yesteryear brings back fond memories of a neighborhood mom and pop store.

We stopped on a whim as we were headed to another town for ice cream and we made a great choice! The ice cream was awesome, but the staff was even better. Everyone was super friendly and helpful and seemed to be enjoying their job. The adults as well as kids enjoyed looking around at all the candy and antique items. If you need a coffee, some ice cream or just need a chance to stretch your legs, this is the stop for you!

We were on our way through on vacation to get to another town and grab ice cream before they closed. I just so happened to catch the word "ice cream" on the side of their store and we decided to turn around and give it a shot. SO GLAD WE DID! It was such a fun store. The kids loved it and the ice cream was fantastic! Not only that, but the candy collection was good and the service was amazing. We were able to strike up a great conversation while deciding on ice cream flavors and it was such a great experience. Glad we stopped and we'll definitely do it again if we're ever in the area!

I always love visiting this store. I had a large mocha caramel latte, delicious as always. My husband and I ate at the hotdog place next door. First time there, enjoyed it and will be making that a stop frequently as well.

If you want the best HOMEMADE ice cream anywhere in the world, try it here at the Old Vintage Mercantile in Caledonia. Steve had the black cherry and Strayberry Jalapeño {only available in JANUARY!} and I had the Black Cherry and Butter pecan PIE ice cream. Oh my Goodness, you’re gonna think you’ve died and gone to Heaven. You can sample a Couple of flavors. They have fresh peach ice cream {only in JUNE!} but it’s alright. It’s worth the drive to hit here and Johnson Shut Ins or Elephant Rocks or Fort Davidson multiple times in a summer! Or even canoeing Black River in Lesterville! You’re close to God’s country here{Oates,Missouri} so slow down and enjoy the sounds of nature and fill your lungs with some fresh air and fill your tank with a waffle cone and some unforgettable ice cream!
