We stopped by Jazz Shepherd Coffee on our drive home after reading the reviews. Dan, the owner, was extremely welcoming and has created a definite vibe. The 20-year vinyl collection, jazz in the background, and brown leather couches make for a retro lounge in rural MN. If we lived closer, I'd be a regular for the music and the coffee.

Great atmosphere. Great owner. You feel like your somewhere else by just stepping through the door. It’s really incredible. I will make the trip for coffee and conversation just to support a place and person like this. It’s that cool. The record collection has to be seen. The coffee has to be tasted. And the conversation has to be had. Make the drive… it’s worth it!

If you ever want to see what someone’s passions look like when pursued simultaneously, peek in to this Music/coffee/beer & wine/art space…. 1000s of albums that Dan and his wife have created to have fun and share their collection. It’s worth the drive. FB for details n events on Friday and Sat nites. We had so much fun, met new friends and ended up staying for hours…!

Great little place in a small town. He has an incredible amount of jazz and other records. Great atmosphere to have a chat or just take a break. Coffee and espresso are both good without being bitter and you can get them however you'd like.

Let me tell you - you're in for a treat. I discovered this place on accident - while passing through town, enroute to another town, I went in search of a quick cup of coffee. This place is like no other. Thousands of records, from each and every denomination of jazz, funk, soul, and more - line the walls. Its a place that feels out of time, able to remove you from wherever you were. It feels like a warm book, like being wrapped up in a warm blanket. Great coffee, wonderful music, and an incredibly welcoming and friendly staff. I ended up talking with the owner, Dan, for a long time and he was as friendly and as accommodating as anyone could possibly be. I'm happy I stumbled across this place. Its a hidden gem, and I definitely can't wait to go back. Oh, and as a result, I ended up being late to where I was going - And I'm totally ok with it.

I finally made the trip out to Elgin to check this place out, and let me tell you it was worth it and then some! Dan's record collection and rich knowledge of jazz music and history is spectacular and worth the trip alone. Not only that, but the coffee selection and freshness is great too. These folks have great taste all around. I can assure you you won't find this combination of great music, great coffee, and friendly people anywhere else. Not in Rochester, not in Minneapolis, not even in Chicago. This place is a unique gem. I highly recommend making the trip here even if it is a long drive for you, and I very rarely review anything, so this is high praise. Bravo!

What an amazing place to find after having lived in this area my entire life. I am so excited this coffee shop opened, they offer the most unique experience ever to have graced the area. Cool atmosphere, great coffee, a small menu but easy to find something that will appeal to you and an awesome owner that you could chat with all day. But wait....do you love music? If so this is the place to go, the owner has a mind blowing collection of records and curates the best listening experience you could ask for!!
