If you want down home cooking at its finest, this is the place for you. It's small and cozy, and the stuffed hashbrowns are awesome. They also have wonderful homemade pie.
Felt like an outcast here because I normally don't come to this restaurant and the food felt like no effort was put into making it it
1.14.2023 My first visit to the Effie Cafe. After reading reviews, I took my dad for brunch. He lives 20 miles from here. Our server, Jessica, who is the owner as of this past year, recommended the biscuits and gravy, as well as the French Toast. I had to try them both with the plan of taking some home. Dad had over easy eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast. While we waited we noticed the fresh paint and new fresh look. Jessica stopped by to answer our questions. She is very pleasant and a nice chat. It was clear the new owner was giving the place a new look which she did an excellent job. Our wait was short and the food arrived hot. The biscuits and gravy were excellent. The French toast was the best I've had. Dad really enjoyed his choice too. The price for all of this was under $22. I paid $30 and left the rest as a tip. She earned it.
What a great little gem of a place. 5 of us had a great breakfast. Highly recommend it. The boys from Illinois.

Great food (cafe, don't get too excited) reasonable prices, no other options. Open as of 11-4-22.
Eat there couple times a year when in the area. Always has has good food at a good price. Service can be slower at times. Today was first time with new owners. Menu is different but still pretty much the same. We had pancake & eggs and omelet & hashbrowns today; food was homemade good, prices very good, and service good. Do check Facebook ahead because they have a couple times have to close due to staffing or family events.
The food was very good but we waited 1 hour before we got our food to long of a wait and we walk in got our drinks we were ready to order some one else walks in and she takes there order before ours by the time we got our order my Pepsi was water it was a hour of setting for food.

Quaint cafe with tasty burgers& a great BLT. Small but worth 4 kinds of pie on this day. Good prices and small town charm. They were open more hours than listed on google
Stopped to eat on our trip home and it was great. Maybe our new regular stop on the way home every time.
