The cutest little coffeehouse and deli! We stopped by on our way home from a vacation and absolutely adored the food and service. Employees were kind and patient (there were 4 of us ordering for a total of 6 people). Lots of options to choose from when it comes to food and drinks. Please be sure to stop by!
On your drive between Duluth and the cities you might consider passing by Hinkley, skipping the McDonalds at Moose Lake and stopping at the Chickadee for a coffee, treat, or sandwich. It’s a happy little deli and coffee oasis in the midst of the great coffee desert along Hwy35. Really pleasant local deli with a good interior and outside deck. Huge parking lot.
Great homemade soups and fresh sandwiches. Great atmosphere and service.
Awesome chill spot, great food, great coffee, Cool people. Definitely check it out.
Cute little place, food was great, and portions were good for the price. And the drink menu was to die for, its a shame I only had enough time to have a Grilled Cheese and a Smoothie. If you're in Barnum, this isn't a place you would want to miss
Popped off the exit from I-35 on a whim, happened upon this charming coffeehouse and it was worth the detour. Two tasty cookies, hot chocolate, and a house blend espresso drink at a very reasonable price, we sat in one of the dining areas to bask in the sun from the big picture windows. Great big patio for the warmer days, postings say live music every Friday night. Will definitely stop here again!
Tried cherry cookies & they were very 👍.
Despite my wife and I not even realizing that this "Coffeehouse & Deli" existed, my parents decided to give me a gift card from this location for my recent birthday. One short drive later at four o'clock in the afternoon, we arrived, and were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere, one which you can find in every other coffeehouse in the midwest. Wow, look at all that wood and honey. Hey, guess what, you can buy a baseball cap for twenty-five dollars, what a steal! There were roughly five other customers in the establishment, all already served, eating their food, drinking their drinks, chit-chatting. My wife and I find our seats and settle in, and go to order. After looking over the menu, we're finally served by the rudest person I've ever met in my life. How the heck can you be so impatient to take an order when you have literally no one else to serve? It's a town of 613 people for Christ's sake, and roughly 0.1% of the population is currently in the building. I wish I had gotten her name so I can single her out, but she had brown hair and glasses. If you can't keep your composure serving 10 people in a day, I would hate to see you at a real job that actually has something real to stress you out.
Honestly I loved the atmosphere, my husband and I found our seats, got comfy and I was excited to sit down and have a little brunch together, something we don't do that often anymore, have a little date together. We got to the counter and I apologized that it would take me a bit, "we haven't been here before", and the server was immediately impatient.. rushed us, huffed and sighed the entire time. It wasn't even busy! I could understand a little attitude if it was crowded, she's gotta get orders in, but there were maybe 5 people in there maximum, and we were the only ones in-line! She completely soured the mood and our appetites so we chose not to stick around, I think we'll just go to one of the other 10+ coffee shops in the area next time.
I love this place and try to stop every time I head North. The other day I had the French Onion Soup and Cranberry Chicken Salad Sandwich. Both were excellent as was the coffee. Wonderful staff, great ambiance. Feels good supporting a locally owned cafe.
What a cute place! And great food.
Love this cute little coffee shop! Staff is awesome, friendly and helpful! Prices are reasonable and totally worth the time to stop and get yourself a cup of joe and or even some breakfast or lunch! I would definately recommend!
I've been up and down 35 and I cannot find a place with a better sandwich than The Chickadee's BLT. It's worth every penny.
Solid food and good value. Beautiful space and friendly service.
Service was horrible. We ordered an Italian sandwich and a teriyaki chicken wrap. She said it'll be 5 to 10 minutes. After about 15 minutes, they came out with an order. Unfortunately, it was not our order, it was for the couple that came in AFTER us. Waited some more, watched a couple of orders come for pickup. Finally, after 42 minutes, we got our order. They explained that they had gotten some phone orders in after ours, and had to take care of them. They would have been better off lying. Plus, 42 minutes to make maybe 8-10 sandwiches? Perhaps what we should have done is sat at a table and phoned our order in? Then we wouldn't have had to wait so long. Worst thing is, the food was excellent. Maybe it's because we were so hungry after waiting so long. Would have loved to go back for the food, but don't want to wait. This is my 2nd negative in 20 years for anything. UPDATE We returned today with my grandson. Service was much better, we received our meals within a few minutes. My wife loved her burger, my teriyaki wrap was good (not as great as my turkey Italian sandwich the last time). Teriyaki flavor was somewhat hidden by the sauce, but still good. My grandson loved his French toast fingers - I had one, and it was delicious. He told me I have to make his French toast this was from now on.
First time at this cafe and it will not be the last. The turkey burgers were excellent!
While we could see that this would be a nice coffee shop, it was full of vendors, who took up most of the tables and we didn't know what was going on. The food took a long time to come, but was good.
So yummy and cute atmosphere! The food is the highlight though. Reasonably priced and full of flavor. You can tell it’s all fresh and made in house. I got the cranberry turkey sandwich and a cup of their tomato soup. Friends got the same sandwich and their potato soup. The sandwich was so full of rich flavor. The tomato soup wasn’t quite as creamy/savory as I hoped but still very good! Friends said the potato soup was the best they’ve had. Will definitely be stopping on our way from Duluth to the cities again!
It was delicious! Yummy chicken avocado soup and chicken bacon ranch salad. Cute little coffee shop with lots of food options and you can even buy a quart of their soups to take home. Some local crafts for sale too. Loved it. Very friendly staff!
Friendly and helpful staff! The food was great. I ordered the Ashley, which was delicious and my husband ordered a egg and cheese sandwich. Food came out piping hot and the waitress who brought it out even reminded us we got chips with it. Many places would have just hoped we would miss that! We would stop by here again!
