Our desserts were delicious as always. Our coffee cups were kept full and every wish was delivered with a smile. Lisa and her staff are beyond wonderful!

We like the food but the more we drive over for it, the more we get past the honeymoon phase to learn that their costumer service can be... er, meh, a bit.like.hugging.a.cactus. It's losing its flare over the course of time, in spite of well presented food & the nostalgic environment. So it's "not all that and more" once we get past the initial enchantment and romance of it all. We can afford to eat here often however we'd like to offer a little constructive feedback because, in case you're unaware: humble yourselves, please. It's not enjoyable to come here if customers aren't felt welcomed or well received over the long haul - and this is all unrelated to reservations. If this feedback is off putting, it's because your establishment was first off-putting in very subtle ways and it's leaving a bad aftertaste and pushing us away. It's odd and hard to put a finger on it. Maybe one has to be a local or Scandinavian to be consistently well-received here; we're not exactly sure what "it" is: It's odd of a climate that the owners some times create like this; kind of off-putting and we don't appreciate this "vibe" when we regularly patronize. Sorry? It's a romanticized, idealic little place (much like how gnomes are trendy with folklore) but the more we go - well, sadly, each time has only further reinforced that we can eat as well or better at home (healthier) and it's a whole lot more affordable. And, also, saves gas. Or, we go elsewhere. We really didn't/don't want to give up on this establishment but that's the direction it's going for us and we feel bad... but, arguably, sometimes results are earned. This is what we're learning here. And wisdom is gained by experience. Perfectionism isn't required but one can learn from repeated patterns. Had we rated this in the very beginning when we first were enchanted, of course it would of been 5 stars! This isn't a shotgun reply. It's taken several months to come to this realization. Be kind. You never know when you're entert

Absolutely delicious food in a very unique and cozy place! Real gem and unique experience if you're in the neighborhood. Reservations recommended, as it's quite small, but the food is worth it!

We heard good things about this little Cafe, so we stopped in for dinner this evening. The place has a quaint charm, very clean & "homey". We called earlier in the day for reservations, recommended as they have 7 tables that seat from 2 to 6 people. A wonderful menu is offered. I started with a cup of the Hungarian noodle soup. It was good. For dinner I ordered the coffee rubbed steak & baked potato, delicious! My wife ordered the harvest bowl & kettle chips. They accomodated her dinner for her vegan diet. She loved it! The service was excellent as well, friendly & helpful. Great food, wonderful service and comfortable ambiance (the classical music in the background was relaxing as well). I highly recommend this little gem in quaint Amboy.

Simply charming atmosphere and delicious food . Pricing is remarkable. I didn’t have reservation but they seated me anyway. I’m so glad I rode through this town and ate lunch at Amboy Cottage Cafe. It’s worth going out of your way of traveling in this area.

Stopped here while on a motorcycle ride and completely blown away by how good the burgers are. I had an amazing bison sweet pepper burger. The dessert was all homemade and generous portions. Can't wait to come back for more!
