Because of the great reviews we waited over an hour to get a seat. Very disappointed as the food wasn’t that great. The toast was not toasted and the OJ was watered down. The hostess/cashier was so rude when I asked where we were on the list. We should have left after that be she said we were next after being very nasty. How convenient as they were seating people who got there after us. Just not worth it!!
Had a great time! Very cool little place to get a coffee or a whole meal!
Got to meet Joe himself! Super awesome little eclectic Café. I had the French toast and it was primo!! Paired with a Chai latte it was just what I needed to start my day. Joe is engaging and happy to chat with all patrons including passing along suggestions for wayside travelers hhsch as myself
Coffee is good! Lots of great latte flavors. I'd probably recommend dining in rather than taking coffee to go though. The front area is super small and it can be a bit congested if lots of people are waiting to pay or be seated. Staff was very nice and made some great lattes for my wife and I!
We love this place. We visit this place every trip to the UP. Lovely and friendly.
This little place was awesome. The staff was super friendly and the food was delicious. Definitely stop here if you're in the area
Java Joe's is a unique experience. Joe is warm and welcoming and very personal. He was full of great ideas for the area and the food was exceptional!! I highly recommend Java Joe's.
Best corned beef hash I've ever had. Joe is amazing and knowledgeable about the area. A must stop for those wanting to hike and see local sights.
Absolutely LOVED this place! We stayed close by for a girls trip and ended up here twice. Joe was super friendly and chatted with everyone and is even the one making the coffee! Other staff were very friendly as well. The decor is super fun and cheerful and you can't help but smile and be happy! I also got my future told by the Java Joe fortune teller out front, which was actually spot on and fun! The menu is HUGE and there is definitely something for everyone! We both loved what we ordered both days! If ever in the area again, this will be a stop for sure! It is a very busy place and rightfully so, but they get you seated as fast as they can and our wait was never too long.
This place is a great place to go for breakfast. The food is good and priced well, and the place has a lot of history and character. Would definitely come back here!
Very busy, and the staff seemed overwhelmed. But, the coffee was excellent. The seating area is small but very friendly atmosphere. Plenty of gifts for yourself or loved ones. I didn't try their food but everyone looked happy.
This place is well worth the wait! We went there on a recommendation from a friend and we were not disappointed! They have weird menu items that set them apart from other restaurants in the area. I won't be stopping for breakfast in Mackinaw City anymore on my way to The Soo. Also, I love the hippie vibes!
I love you guys so much and have for 2 decades. However, we drove up from the lower peninsula because your Google page said you were Open 7-1 today. Shame on us for not calling and double checking. But please in the future let's update the Google page to save heartache. I just cried in your parking lot on my baby moon because I'm pregnant and planned our trip around your restaurant. I guess we will call ahead in the future before planning trips up this way.
It was a small place but they made it work well for them. Came for good coffee and ended up with that and great homemade yogurt and granola parfait. Will come back it was great choice and didn't feel bad for eating it
Love the place and staff’s energy! They were so kind. Food was okay, we had the most basic options though . I was so happy and satisfied that I bought one of their mug, it makes me remember that nice morning whenever I use it!
I have never felt more unwelcome and treated so poorly than here! We were trying to eat breakfast with two families, we had 7 people total. I was met with rude comments and very rude nonverbals from employees. We decided it would be best to find somewhere else. I will not be returning. I cannot believe how we were treated. Very disappointed. I do not recommend!
Cool little spot with an wide variety of omelettes. The menu are super cute made out of newspaper print. Staff is amazing and kind. The java from this place is the best. Small cute little restaurant but my family enjoyed and will be back again. A little pricey but not too bad since it's kind of hard to find a breakfast place over here
Family members ate there the day before and liked it fine. We were all going to meet up there and discuss our plans for the day. Six of them were there already and our family of five was running behind. When we walked in, there was a line. I excused myself and tried to look around the corner to see if I could find our group. The gray-haired, bespectacled, short woman at the counter yelled at me that there was a line. I replied that I was looking for our group. Her response was that there was no large group and if there was, they'd already had their orders taken so we couldn't sit with them anyway. Everyone in the place was staring at this point. We walked out and I called a member of the group to ask where they were. Apparently the back patio. The counter woman came back out: "There's six and they're on the back patio," in a tone implying we were stupid. On the patio, there was no room at the round top the rest of the family was at, so we started to set up at the four-top next to them, which seemed fine with the waitress. Counter woman came back and said "I need that for four people. They can sit in the corner," and so we went to another four-top in the back corner, which made communication with our group fairly difficult. I was willing to stay and eat this once, so we ordered and had just gotten coffee when the last straw happened. Counter woman came back to top off coffee. My kids (8 and 5) said something about being chilly - the patio was enclosed and there was a space heater, but still. Her response: "Oh, the kids are cold? Well I'm warm." And then she turned down the space heater. At that point, I got up, told the waitress to cancel our order (which they hadn't started making yet anyway), and gave her $10 for our drinks. Counter woman acted shocked, asked why we were leaving, and when I said "Because of YOU," said "I have no idea what I could have done, but sorry." 😒 Tl;dnr: Counter woman was HORRIBLE; not worth the hassle.
I visited this location 2 years ago. I am up in St Ignace for a little vacation and one of my go-to spots for this trip was going to be Java Joe's Cafe. The cafe is cozy, clean. The wait staff are amazing. The clientele is a lot of fun. I had a Michigan omelette. I was a little freaked out because of the apples in it but my waitress said that it was a good pick and I thought I'd give it a try. I was not disappointed! My hash browns were really good too. I'm pretty picky on how my hash browns are done and I ate them all. Uncommon! I would absolutely suggest Java Joe's Cafe to any family member or friend that is coming to St Ignace. Next time I come up I will be returning as long as they are around. Java Joe's, thank you for another great experience.
What a fun and friendly place to eat a very tasty, all fresh breakfast. Small fruit bowl was enough for two! Everything we had was good, and everything we saw at other tables looked good too! It’s a quirky, quaint place with VERY friendly staff. Constant folks in/out. Try it!
