Fun and friendly little place to get coffee when passing through this relatively untouched pretty area of northeast Michigan

Cute little grocery store. If you are looking for a vegan option in Presque Isle, they offer a vegan pizza that is really good.

What a wonderful little shop! The owner is so kind; she alone made the stop in worth it. Not to mention the coffee and brownies..... Definitely worth a visit whenever you're in the area!

The sign caught my eye as we were passing by, who wouldn’t want to stop with pizza, booze, baked goods, baguettes, and coffee available!? We had to turn around and we were not disappointed. The owner was so polite and took time to ask us about where we were visiting from and what brought us that way. It is so nice to connect with people like that these days. Please check out this cute little shop, they have so much more than what’s listed. 🖤

There's the best meeting room at Birch Hill Grocery! It's cozy and welcoming, like the owner and staff. Perfect coffee and baked treats, too.

Chris who is the new owner of Birch Hill, has added great value to our community with her store! I love coming in to find new options for lunch and dinner and am never disappointed. The cooler of cold drinks has such a variety of refreshing choices. Great spot to find a little special gift for those occasions that pop up. Be sure to stop by for yourself!!

Best sour cream coffee cake I’ve ever had. And I’ve had a lot. Wow.

Update! As of mid July 2021 they have reopened. They still are in the process of opening. They have a good selection of fancy foods, many made in Michigan. The kind of things worth trying on vacation. It sounds like they will have pizza and baked goods in a few weeks. The Pizza we ordered was good. Not cheap, but pretty good. They have the kind of staples you would expect to find at a gas station up north. They have eggs, milk and bread ect. They also sell ice cream by the cone and often have pizza by the slice. The prices are a little steep, but not crazy. I'll happily pay a bit more rather than drive into Alpena or Rogers City. Stop in, they're nice. The ribs on saturday are pretty good too.

This place has been here a long time. It was my hangout for many a year way back in the ‘70’s. It has changed a little but still provides the needed refill and emergency stop so you don’t have to run too far to resupply. Prices may be a little high but the convenience is worth it in a pinch.
