Awesome food and amazing service. We drove in from Caseville not realizing that it was in Bad Axe & not Port Austin. They stayed open for us…. Great portions, great owners. All around awesome & Amazing experience.
Stoped in for breakfast. Good service, coffe and food.
I want to love this place, but I haven't been sold yet. I love the classic seating and huge windows. Best omlettes in Bad Axe! What gets me down are the consistently mushy hashbrowns and the waitresses that seem too busy to serve me. What makes me laugh is the tiny plate I have to navigate to eat my large breakfast. Their great prices will always keep me coming back.
It's such a great place! Love all the baked goods, and it's so awesome to have something local that offers things you would find in the big cities. Specials Monday through Friday that average $9. They usually switch from breakfast to lunch between 11a to 11:30a, except breakfast only on Sunday and open until 1p. If you like to go when there's a smaller crowd of people, go between 7a-9a or 1p-3p. They also offer catering for events and usually offer special options for ordering for holidays.
Always great food AND great staff!! Hard to find good restaurants in this area…. let alone good service!! This place will always get my business!! Keep up the excellent work Cafe 53!!
Atmosphere is cozy, muffins can be dry sometimes. Stopped eating breakfast, because pancakes were always undercooked. Friendly staff, people seem to like their lunch.
I guess breakfast must be the time to eat there. I had lunch, chicken club had 1 little slab of chicken, fries were cold. When checking out there was no interaction with cashier about how are meal or service was! 🤔
Thank you for a wonderful experience dining with my granddaughter for the daddy daughter dance, it made our evening a lot more special.

Outstanding! Baked goods were a little pricey but that's a good thing cause they're so good I would've bought and ate way more!
So far I’ve tried muffins and breakfast! Muffins are delicious and the breakfast was great. Honestly best hash browns I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to try lunch one of these days I can get off!
Thanksgiving Dinner was great! We even had leftovers:)
I'm basing this solely on the delicious muffin I had. But if the rest of the food is as good as the muffin this place is a gem! Update! Had the jalapeno popper grilled cheese and fries. Both were great and the homemade fries were the best I've ever had.

Just noticed that the Cafe 53 restaurant was open. Excellent Omelettes and quality of food, and the portions are well priced! I'm definitely a returning customer!
So far have only had muffins from here but if the rest of their food is anything like their muffins then this place will be amazing and is a must try!
