Just cannot go here again - loss of basic trust and horrid coffee. Wifi is good yet unsecure. Atmosphere is very comfortable. Food is mixed. Coffee is horrid – weak and just a step above that percolated church basement coffee. Half of the French fries were very overcooked and like cardboard, and there were no equal priced substitutions to the fries on the side of a burger. Order was overcharged, and it was refunded. HOWEVER, the refund would not have occurred if it was not asked what was contained in the sandwich, and notice taken that half of it was missing. Apparently, the sandwich ordered was clandestinely upgraded and then not delivered as such. Most prices are NOT posted in the café, and staff said those posted (for the daily specials) were incorrect (to enable the clandestine upgrade?). So, either they were trying to hoodwink the customer or they’re just plain sloppy in their order taking and handling and/or in their order preparation. The burger was excellent after taking off the excess sauce and re-stacking it so that the sauce is next to the meat rather than sliding all over the once melted cheese that was re-chilled with the abundant sauce. Be aware: there was at least one other review noting difficulties with order delivery, especially where there was an upcharge. With that patron, and on multiple occasions, this place failed to deliver the paid for upcharge items. Sadly, there seems to be a pattern of deception for upcharging rather than an honest delivery of good food creating increased business and demand.
Great foods and service. Never had a bad experience.
Good homemade breakfast at a decent price.
The place is great for brunch. They have a rotating special drink menu as well as fresh baked cupcakes and muffins and other pastries. The actual food is really solid and they give great portion sizes. The prices are a little high but it's due to inflation, but I definitely hope they come down soon. The staff are all amazing folks with good customer service skills and are always very warm and Inviting. There isn't a real negative thing about this place with the exception that the prices are just a bit high. Otherwise, I always recommend this to folks who have never been.

Great study spot for coffee and lunches!
I live right in the neighborhood, so we order from here fairly often. Food is good, but the staff are sloppy when it comes to reading the order instructions. If I request something like "no horseradish" or "add bacon" or "sub american cheese for cheddar", my order comes assembled per the menu, even if the special request is something I paid extra for. It's happened five or six times now, both with in-person and online orders. Doesn't matter if it's a busy it slow day, either. Staff is good about fixing it when we dine in, but it's a real pain when we order to-go and only find out when we get home. I'm lucky not to have any allergies or diet restrictions. From now on I'm sticking to menu items that I like as they are.
Was a quiet rainy day when my girlfriend and I went, got lunch and loved the place! They gave us a little toy dinosaur as a table marker and were very friendly! The food was great and the atmosphere was nice. Would definitely stop in sometime to check it out!
Simple yet comfortable atmosphere and service. The food was so incredibly good at a great value. I would be thrilled to come here again.
You can get a bagel or a pancake pretty safely. Otherwise, it's more miss than hit. Used to go here every weekend. Not anymore All of the donuts and cupcakes are dry. They look good but they are definitely not. The donuts in particular are really bad. The muffins are ok but don't order one grilled as they will grill the muffin with the wrapper on. Melting plastic into your muffin. They absolutely play favorites. People who order well after you will receive their food well before you. Even if all you order is a toasted bagel and the other person gets a big hot meal. It's quite frustrating. I would find my daughter and myself waiting for almost a half an hour upon every visit. They literally would not start our order until I complained. This happened so many times in a row that we started going to a different breakfast spot entirely. I've also ordered a breakfast sandwich. The bacon was cold and chewy. The whole thing was dripping with grease and tasted like burnt grease. I've tried the wings, the burger, and a few other items on the menu. They were all disappointing. The coffee has been stale every time I've ordered it. Usually around 8:00 AM
Lived in Holyoke for 5 years and enjoyed the Dam until today. Waited for an online order at the pickup counter for 20 minutes without even being acknowledged. Finally asked someone and was told to get in line. Then had to wait for someone to come through the line for coffee orders to finally get it made. It's fine to be busy but have the common courtesy to acknowledge your customers. Will not be returning.
Pretty nice place! There were no prices listed on my visit, not sure if that's normal or not. But the staff was nice and it felt nice to be there!
This place it was horrible food not good and the customer service is bad and I don’t recommend it to anyone
Took a trip to Holyoke recently for my Birthday. This Cafe became a go-to place for Breakfast. The Hash and Omelets are filling. Came here 4 times in 6 days. Highly Recommend this place!!
The review in no way reflects the server who was understanding and just following rules. But the customer relations of the establishment is poor. A waste of $20! My sugar cookie latte tasted great but was served on the cold side of warm. The Florence sandwich was so dry it scratched my throat the few bites I had. I thought it would be easy enough to just ask for some more pesto to help with the dryness and they were going to CHARGE me for it! (Only the inside of the top had any pesto and it was spare. Underneath, nothing.) The cheesecake pumpkin muffin was stale and makes me nervous to try the lemon poppy I bought. With it being so popular you’d think they could spare extra pesto to make what they served up edible. Ridiculous.
1st timer here - I really enjoyed The Dam Cafe. I got a reuben & chips. The place was clean, service was fast, the price was very reasonable & it tasted good. I'd definitely recommend stopping by.
Great food and great atmosphere if you dine in
I love a good breakfast, which is why I love Dam Cafe. Not only is it delicious, but large enough to save for a second meal. The drinks are good, service is friendly, and seating is easy. If you need a small, local breakfast place The Dam Cafe is a great place to go.
The front casheier was very friendly and greeted me with a smile. I got a breakfast sandwich and an iced coffee. It took a decent amount of time for my sandwich to come out, but the bacon was amazing.
Only because my date stood me up and I was waiting in that small dirt parking lot for 30 mins with no response is why i gave it 1 star. With that being said it looked like a great place to eat and have a good time or take a date there. I'd say definitely give it a try of you're looking for a new place to go
