Pastries so good they didn’t even survive the car ride home!

Baked goods looked good but I had the fish chowder which was very thin, potatoes too big for my liking, and not a lot of fish.

Had several pastries& bacon-cheeseburgers, always very satisfied with the food! It's a very honest place, with fair prices, and has a small garden with flowers and some outdoor seats. Don't expect a touristy welcome committee as a guest, but the owners are definitely good-hearted people, and many locals seem to appreciate the place (and me too)

Carol and Marc are two very kind folks that I had the pleasure of interacting with over the last several years during the summer at Schoolhouse Bakery. Their cinnamon rolls, whoopie pies, scones, and croissants are out of this world and some of the best I’ve ever had. It’s safe to say I’ll never find another Schoolhouse Bakery, and while I’m incredibly sad to see them close in October, I’m happy for them that they’re entering retired life. Cheers to you two, and to 29 years of hard work! Thank you!

Had another great experience at the Schoolhouse Bakery this morning. I’ll hate to leave Maine, Cran-Orange scones and Carol and Marc. Six stars.

You get back what you give and this is a perfect example. I try to make Carol smile every time I come into the Bakery (4-5 times a week) and more often than not, I do. She and Marc are relative unknowns (best kept secret in town) and her baking is extraordinary. The cran-orange scones are fantastic. If you haven’t been, go with a big smile on your face and I can almost guarantee you that you will make Carol’s day. Please and thank you go a long, long way at the Schoolhouse Bakery.

Was looking for something else than your typical fried Maine tourist's lunch and we found it! Delicious baked goods, sandwiches made with home-made bread, and delicious pasta salad! The Blueberry pie is excellent!

I was planning on getting a breakfast sandwich and pastries for my kids but I was so put off by the rude attitude that I just got a couple of drip coffees. Whoever posted that customers just need to "treat everyone with a smile and will get a good attitude in return" must have seen someone else at the counter or had a lucky day. I would not go back.

Not sure why some people think the owner is impolite... Perhaps they were annoying customers who tested the patience of the proprietor. She was friendly and helpful for us, but then again, we treat people with a friendly smile and kindness. Maybe that is the trick to getting great service. Give it a try. The scones and muffins were quite good.

This is the worst place I have actually been to. Small, dirty, offering bad food. I got a bagel to minimize any way this little of a meal could be screwed up and I got a crumpled bagel with barely any cream cheese (no, you cannot even get a small container, they do it for you). This place should be closed down immediately.

Horrible place, rude staff, low quality, and high prices. This place is a disgrace and should be closed. It would be so nice to have a good bakery there... To give an idea of how bad of an experience it was, as soon as I was done with my 16-buck crab roll I was so disappointed and hungry that I went to my car and had a piece of bread I bought at Hannaford the day before! And I liked it more than the crab roll!

Food was very good. The woman behind the counter, quite unfriendly. Outdoor tables a plus

Unfortunately, she goes beyond "Maine brusque" straight into downright rude. Disappointing, as the place is charming and the food quite good. But a dismissive attitude to customers kind of puts a damper on the whole experience.

Been visiting here for years and consistently have similar experiences. The husband is positively wonderful and kind. The wife is not very pleasant. My step dad, who is one of the nicest people you'd ever meet, took the challenge to make her smile with every visit. That generally didn't happen if memory serves me correctly. We keep going as the food has always been great and want small family owned businesses to make it. If Maine were all Wal Marts and McDonalds it wouldn't be Maine. I have a part time business myself and truly hope this is constructive criticism and not just nasty and cowardly insults. Ma'am, if you could just smile and be a bit folksy it would make folks feel better. Every interaction with a person is a chance to make the world a better place. Word travels fast around here. My mom is on her way for the first purchase in two years. The next sentence will state if anything has changed. The food is still great.

Meh. The woman at the counter was very unfriendly (a theme you’ll see in other reviews here). Biscuit sandwich was ok, scone and cinnamon roll were nothing special. Very dry. Will not return.

This place is a hidden treasure. If you are coming into Tenats Harbor, don't forget to stop into this place to get a snack. The building the bakery and cafe are in is smaller for what they offer because they offer so much great stuff however it makes sense because this isn't a high traffic town. The service has always been nice and friendly and you will always get a quality meal and bake good here. Overall, a great place to stop by.
