A hidden gem to be sure. I found Hidden Grounds after a trip to the Pineville VA center. Their coffee beans are roasted on-site, their drinks are good, and their menu is broad, with quite a few seasonal and proprietary specialty recipes. They are my for-sure VA trip coffee shop.

Got a coffee, a chai and a banana bread slice (on the recommendation of the owner/roaster guy). The coffee was really good. They do a great job with the roasting. The chai was average -- fine but maybe a little on the too sweet side. The real bummer was the banana bread. Don't know who portions out the pieces but the pieces were all totally different sizes with the end piece being a sad leftover piece that was about 1/2 the size of most of the other pieces (and more like 1/4 compared to the largest slice). They gave me that sad not-full-sized piece and charged me the full amount (about $3!). In the future, would get a coffee here but would go to Starbucks for their banana bread, which at least is a guaranteed full slice.
My husband and I just visited for the first time and had a wonderful experience! The gentleman inside was very helpful and nice. I wish I would have gotten his name so I could include it in my review. Both of our drinks are delicious! I also got an apple cinnamon scone which was also delicious!:) I wish we would have known about this place sooner! We will definitely be back!

Great small local coffee shop located Ina really cool area in a small town/city. Drinks are delicious and smaller bites (muffins, etc) are all delicious as well. Edited review due to customer service. Sadly lacking. I stood in front of cash register for 7 minutes while the lady did "work" and did not even say hello. When she finally said something she only asked me if I wanted a coffee. I said yes and she told me to stand in a different line which I have never done here before so I left. Very disappointed. I'll drive across the river to downtown Alexandria from now on. Plus they are open more than here.
Great spot to stop in for a copper and a bite to eat. A nice and quiet spot with room to sit and chat with your friends or contemplate in peace by yourself. Great prices on coffee and pastries and very professional service.
This place is below average for a coffee experience. I would rather go to Starbucks any day... I order the equivalent of chicken minis which is served at chick fila..... They gave them to me cold.......... Not a good move at all....my recommendation is to look collaborative coffee in Tulsa and follow this example of a coffee experience...... Great place the quality is just not there.....

The Café Au Lait (Iced) was good. The employee got our orders quickly. And it is very inexpensive.
Absolutely terrible. Coffee is water’d down and when you order food to go apparently they give it to you “ refrigerated” for you to heat it up on your own. Lol. Imagine ordering food and they tell you we purposely sent it cold for you to microwave it up.. hmm sketch. Dont waste your money!!
To start, my coffee and kolache were great. I appreciated the amount of espresso for a large. The sad part is my experience was met by an egocentric barista that yelled the entire time I was there. My wife waited for him to finish a round of learning German out loud on his laptop before taking her order. I will come back for sure, but I might just have to learn when certain people work. That experience was new for me at Hidden Grounds.
Came for the coffee, left with a wife. I will treasure this little coffeeshop until the day I die.
Bradford H. helped assist a customer who started choking on her drink. He quickly came to the rescue, performed CPR, and cleaned up the entire café in under 10 minutes. She thanked him graciously and now many will return to Hidden Grounds as happy and appreciative customers. Bradford H. is an angel sent from Heaven. This place truly shows the Lord is still working. Amen
Just got the community coffee with half and half. It use to be much better but I had to choke it down. The people are very nice and the place is clean and quiet.

One of my favorite coffee shops - meet with a group of friends here every week. Good variety and very pleasant service. This shop has that little something "extra" that makes it very special.
