When we got there and seated we were given menu's which were nothing like the online version. We asked the cashier about it and she didn't seem to knowledgeable. The food was ok, but the cook is very heavy handed on salt. When I order steak I expect it to be cooked correctly. And it was over cooked. My husband's was undercooked and they forgot his side. Wasn't as friendly as they really should have or could have been.
Food (Steak Tips & Fries) was as bad as we'd ever had......anywhere! Minimum tips were buried under massive mound of Peppers, Onions, and soggy fries. Service was ordinary, atmosphere was eating in an old garage. Don't bother.
Was pretty busy but seated our table of 4 within 10 minutes.
I've eaten here multiple times while traveling in town. The food is not fancy, but it is exceptionally well prepared. I've had a great experience each time I've eaten here and the staff has always been friendly. Easily the best restaurant in Middlesboro. Fresh, baked in-house bread is super good!
Wonderful experience. The owner went above and beyond, and Chris was an excellent server. I ordered steak & shrimp, Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes, and caramel cheesecake. The food was seasoned perfectly. My friends ordered the hot honey wings and they were phenomenal.

Unless I'm forgetting, I don't think I've ever gone out of my way to rate anything on Google so this is a special occasion coming from me. This is also the first time in my 26 years of existence that I legitimately thought the food I had was underpriced. It was phenomenal! I had the Bourbon Chicken Stir Fry. The sauce was a tad too sweet but that was completely overshadowed by the quality of how well the chicken in the stir fry was cooked. Not only was it the tastiest, melt-in-your-mouth chicken, it was chopped up to pair with the dish well. That's a feat that I'm not sure I've ever heard of without making the chicken super dry and chewy. The service was also very good and they did a wonderful job! All of this for $10 at lunch is amazing though. I HIGHLY recommend it.

We were in town for three nights & ate here for two of them. All the food was really good, the portions were generous, the prices reasonable & the service was wonderful both times. The peanut butter pie is amazing! Definitely recommend!
We love love Shades! Some of the best food around! They have an awesome salad that is way to big for 1 person! They make their own croutons plus all the fresh vegetables that can be thrown on a salad plus the grilled chicken on top is so flavorful & juicy! My husband got a delicious steak & baked potato, which he really enjoyed. We sat outside in their court yard which was nice & comfortable especially on a beautiful day like we had. We will be back!
Finally a place that knows how to cook a dang good steak. It's the best steak I had in years. The service has been great as well. If you are ever in the area or live near by. Come check this place out!

The food was really great but each time I get a chance to go back somehow it always falls on a Monday? And they’re closed on Monday. You’re losing business and customers by closing on mondays!
