No one was at the register taking orders. There were three people behind the counter, one was making coffee and the other two were chatting. We had already been waiting a while before I started to get annoyed. I checked the time then we waited an additional five minutes. At this point no one had said a word to us and they were all clearly going out of their way to avoid eye contact. When someone finally took our order they were clearly not interested in being nice. We were definitely Bothering them. The coffee was average, so next time we go to the “market” we’ll stop somewhere else for coffee beforehand.
Coffee is decent but the young girl who took my order was rude. Personality of a rock with no thank you'd or even a hello.
Walked 2blocks and sign on the counter said “will be back in 20 minutes” . 2 people take a break at same time? Bad business concept
I can’t believe I have to write this review. I’ve enjoyed Safai Coffee Bar for years. Before business started at Logan Street Market, I approached the coffee counter to purchase a cup of coffee. I walked over to the right then to the left. I stood waiting patiently so I could order a cup of coffee. It was very visible to me that the young lady working had her hands full making coffee, I assumed that was the case. But to my surprise that was not the case. After 5 minutes passed, a young Caucasian lady approached the counter, the young Caucasian girl behind the counter acknowledges the other white girl, “ Hey girl, what can I get started for you?” Interrupting her bubbly, smile and engaging greeting, “Do you not see me standing her, I ‘ve been waiting and you ignore me?” She yells back , “I don’t have to serve you.” I can’t believe she said that to me. I walked away and immediately asked for the video the video to be pulled. To be continued. I found out her name is Pipiy. ….. Update. I spoke to Mike Safai who acted as if she has other complaints assuring me the manager will let her go. The manager never reached out to me. The white racist girl still works there. I will never drink at Safai again. I’ve also never retrieved the video. I’ve contacted legal and this isn’t over. This Karan needs to be fired.
I have ordered from them several times over the years and I have never waited less than 20 minutes for a single cup of coffee. 10 minutes I'd be fine with. 15 would even be understandable if there were a line, but 20 minutes plus is just insane to me. The coffee is good.
My hubby and I were definitely surprised by how delicious the blackberry latte was! It was not too sweet and very flavorful. There not too many options to choose from but everything sounded amazing. I'm sure we'll be back to try other items ☺️
Probably one of the best cold brews I’ve ever had. I ordered a medium cold brew, sugar free hazelnut and soy. Fantastic
Great place for coffee
I enjoy the addition of the coffee shop to my neighborhood. I stick to the pour over (medium roast) but my girlfriend likes the chai lattes. They have some snacks and a gift shop with Logan Street Market merch too. Welcomed addition to Shelby park.
*WARNING TO ANY CUSTOMER OR UNLUCKY PEDESTRIAN WHO HAPPENS TO PARK IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING* Before today they would've gotten a decent review. Although the coffee gets burnt a little too frequently it's pretty decent. But folks let me tell you about the dangers coming here entails. In the past year 3 cars have been broken into via throwing rocks through windows & windshields, and one poor guy even got his car egged. Now I know this doesnt relate to the actual product being served but Safai owns the building and has yet to install more than one sensor activated light and zero cameras even after the vandalisms. There's absolutely no excuse for this in 2019, even the tiny art gallery across the street has one tiny camera and enough lightning to deture any nearby mugger. And think, if they don't care about your car then they DEFINITELY dont care about you as a customer.
Great coffee here. We also got a crepe, which was fantastic. Perfect place for a meeting or to get some work done. All the baristas were incredibly nice and went out of their way to give us a great experience.
