The Espresso shake was awesome and the PB&B was alright. Service was nice and efficient. The atmosphere was relaxed outside on the patio and nice inside. The vibe is focused on creating a safe haven/space for the LGBTQ+ community which is respectable and awesome. However, I did notice a sticker inside from CrimethInc which states "Police Not Welcome" which seems to contradict the purpose of CrimethInc's purpose to "create a freer and more joyous world". It's reasonable to have skepticism towards authority or a group you feel threatened by. But maybe be willing to have a conversation with the faction you detest because it's possible that a day will come where someone that doesn't fit the narrative from the detested group will show up and upon seeing such a sticker a civil conversation will already be potentially ruined. The sticker represents old thinking, divisiveness and this current political mentality of "I'm right and you're wrong. End of discussion. Doesn't promote unity or maturity." Don't fight bigotry with bigotry.
Such a cool place! Very community oriented. The whole place feels like a familiar place to hang out, like you're just chilling with friends. The service is super friendly and the drinks are delicious. Highly recommended for a casual place to grab a coffee and relax for a few hours.
The co-op is one of my favorite places in the city to spend time with friends, write, and enjoy amazing food/beverages! I love the inclusive environment the co-op and its' owners create. There is always awesome music playing that gets the people going (s/o to Israel for the impeccable music taste :p) No matter what vibe I intend to catch at the co-op for, whether it be to study or just to chill out, I am always left satisfied and in a better mood than what I came in with. I didn't even drink coffee when I started coming here but now I just can't seem to stop giving them my money. I am not sure if it's the bomb coffee (lavender-infused of course #ifykyk) or the warm atmosphere that I'm now addicted to. Whichever it may be, I'm here for it. Aside from being a dope coffee shop, the co-op serves as a place for various community organizations and organizers to provide robust offerings that ultimately improve the well-being of community members, many of who are marginalized at intersecting dimensions of their identity. I have gotten the privilege to form genuine connections with each of the owners and I am so grateful for them and what each of them uniquely contributes to the co-op. I appreciate all the work they continuously put in to make the co-op such a unique and inviting place. I 10/10 recommend and I tell people about this spot all the time. Based on the quality of products, atmosphere, customer service, and community offerings; the co-op is hands down the best coffee shop that I've been to in the city, country, and hell they are even at the top internationally. I am so thankful that a friend told me about this magical place a year ago because ever since then, it has been a second home. If you haven't been to the co-op, YOU'RE SLACKIN! :) In regard to these ridiculous 1-star reviews related to cops, the only negative experience that I have had at the co-op was when there was a presence of people in uniform which was completely unrelated to the staff or the co-op a
Very nice and you may enjoy pastries and coffee, tea, ect. Whilst having fun with freinds or coming for you morning coffee they offer encredible customer service! And is a relaxing chill place and it is a local coffee shop! So if you support local coffee shops it is a must in Louisville not to mention their staws don't break the minute your lips are on the straw (like Starbucks straws do) they also have kids coffee (I'm sure it's not actually coffee) and support the LGBTQ+ community! And also have very nice customers.
Just amazing.better than Starbucks try the hot chocolate and they Identify as an LGBTQ+ owned. The first time I saw the building was in a march and it led to the coffee shop very pretty I love the Interior so much! And I like that police are not welcome!!!!
Top Notch Discrimination!!! Hope u don't ever need the police for any reason...considering they are not welcome...
So happy to have such a truly community-oriented establishment in our neighborhood. Thank you for being such a welcoming space for collaboration and creativity. Order a lavender Italian soda & be delighted when the staff care about spelling your name correctly on your cup. Thank you!!
I am disgusted by this sign that is posted. An establishment that is all about inclusivity yet is discriminatory against law enforcement. What a nasty gross attitude to have. Just hateful. I will never go back to this place. The thing is….even with a sign such as this posted…if you called 911 and needed help from the police, they would respond and risk their lives to help you or your family without thinking twice. I hope you think about that. What a hateful and nasty message to send to your customers. Do better. Be better.
I never saw myself becoming a regular at a coffee shop, but here we are. I love the people, the community building, and the drinks are good too!
First of all, the coffee and treats are fantastic. Secondly, if you walk away from the place and not feel the love coming from the staff, then you have walked through the wrong door. FINALLY, if you mention War and Peace to my new favorite barista, America, expect them to confuse it with the anime One Piece. :)
I normally don’t leave reviews but I have to for this place. Let me tell you this coffee shop is amazing. The atmosphere was very relaxing and my drink was super good for the price I paid for it. The workers really try to get to know the people who are ordering from them and they even asked me if my name was spelt with an h or without an h which I have never had at another coffee shop before. They had tons of options and the workers are happy to help you figure out what you want to drink. 5/5 star experience I would recommend going here.
Hostile ownership that takes their time responding to Google reviews they don't like instead of giving decent service. I doubt they'll have to worry about reading those reviews too much longer treating people the way they do. Open discrimination, terrible service, mediocre product. Congrats.
I absolutely love it here! The drinks and food are amazing and it’s the perfect place to meet friends or a place to stop on your walk around old louisville ❤️
I'm not a coffee person but I liked the vibe. Accessible from campus, and they offer a student discount!
I like this place a lot! It feels safe in a way that almost nowhere else does.
I prefer my coffee WITHOUT a side of discrimination. This establishment disrespects and disregards our fine law officers.
They do not support law enforcement….and even call out that officers are not welcome. Disgusting.
I will never visit a place that is so blatantly against the individuals who put their lives on the line to protect us. I wish Louisville’s police officers would follow the “no police allowed” welcome sign when the day comes that there is an emergency at this pathetic establishment. Unfortunately, most police officers have far more integrity than that and will still go into this ratchet building to protect the customers and associates who show such blatant disregard for the officers. It’s incredibly disgusting what Louisville has become.
I went to Old Louisville Coffee Co-Op a few months ago and it was so warm and welcoming there, the atmosphere helped to make me less nervous for what was my first time meeting someone in person. Thankful to the staff/owners because they are both lol who were super nice and very friendly and low-key all good looking.
I don't go here as often as I should, but I'm trying to change that; if I still lived a block away, I have no doubt I'd be a daily patron. The service is welcoming and wonderful, the drinks are consistently well-made - I've tried the Petunia, which is deliciously decadent, and the Chai, which hit the spot just right - and the little area of items for sale is consistently full of charming goodies (I'm particularly fond of perusing the earrings). I haven't opted for food yet, but everything I've seen has tempted me significantly. This is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood, which I have such a complicated love for, and the city as a whole.
