Overall underwhelming experience. I was really looking forward to a nice toasted bagel sandwich, however I was disappointed. When ordering, we were told the eggs are prepped and cooked a day in advance- not cooked to order! The bagels came out soggy and hot, as if they were microwaved. However, staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean.
It was a long wait, but boy was that BALT tasty!
My husband and I ordered 2 cups of coffee one plain black one macchiato and two bagels. Seems like a simple order. Order came to $30.00. After a 15 minutes wait waitress brought us 2 cups of macchiato, and one cup of black coffee. But I only ordered 2 cups of coffee?? She acted very disinterested and walked away. But I had to pay for it. Ordered two sandwiches barely any bacon not even a slice on a nine dollar bagel… oh, and my husband ordered a bagel that was supposed to have hot pepper jelly on it. It had none not a smidgen. This is why you only get a one star review. This should’ve been a simple breakfast order.
We enjoyed breakfast at the Bagel Bistro two days in a row. The bagel sandwiches were delicious as were the muffins and coffee. There was a great selection on the menu and the staff were very friendly. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner while there. Highly recommend this restaurant. It is right across from the West Baden Hotel.
I am so glad you came to our neighborhood!!
I don’t give out 5 star reviews lightly, this place is incredible. Hands down the best bagel sandwich (and the best sausage on the side) that I’ve ever had. Bagel was light and fluffy, egg, bacon, ham, and jalapeño jelly perfectly balanced. And great coffee too!
This is a wonderful local restaurant. Be aware that they make your food to order, and they are not heavily staffed. It is definitely worth the wait!
We were on family trip and stopped in for breakfast, even though busy the hospitality we experienced was wonderful and beyond accommodating to our kids. The bagel sandwiches were delicious, don’t miss the balt & little piggy. The owner gave us card games for our kids and lollipops, huge hit for our kids. Would really recommend for families. We will definitely be back every time we are in the area, keep up the good work!
Service was a little slow. Asked about 25 minutes for 2 bagels but they were delicious
A cute and cozy little shop. Friendly staff and a comfortable atmosphere. Seriously the best bagel I have ever had & possibly the best food I’ve had while staying in French Lick.
I stopped in today for the first time, and I was extremely impressed. Rachel, a delightful young lady, makes a perfect latte. There were also lots of food selections that won’t disappoint. Rachel and her husband are relatively new owners of the shop, and I wish them great success. This is an unusual bagel shop in that they have stronger beverages than simple coffee. That’s in the spirit (pun) of the location which was the Oasis bar fifty years ago.
I only gave 4 stars because I've only been there twice and I only had the Americano coffee. I do like the historical building it is in. The service was good as well. Haven't tried any food yet.
This is the best breakfast in French Lick/West Baden. I refuse to visit this area without having breakfast at the bagel bistro. Super friendly staff, beautiful decor, and most importantly- delicious food and coffee. Don't miss this gem!
Rachel is a mesmerizing host, and Jasmine is a wonderful ball of energy. The bagels are outstanding, with the signature checkerboard wrapping and the delicious gluten-free Deep River chips. Even though I had take-out, I was captured by the beautiful decor and trimming of the walls, along with the intricate copper plating on the ceiling fans. Such a warm and cozy vibe, the perfect place to have brunch with friends and family.
The bagels were so fresh and delicious. The BALT was amazing. Service was quick and the owners were very nice and personable. Will absolutely be coming back next time we are in town.
Awesome food, coffee, and customer service! Cute little place :)
Food was below average and took 45 minutes to get. Had to remind them twice about things they still needed to make for us. Possibly understaffed. Definitely don’t recommend and will never return. Edit after response from owner: I assure you from the time I paid until the time I received the yogurt that I had to remind your staff about twice, it was 45 minutes. If that is "timely" for a bagel sandwich and yogurt, then my apologies! Also, I wouldn't say the restaurant was "busy". No worse than similar shops I've been in that took no longer than 10-15 min. to provide the order. Obvious you were understaffed and underprepared. Sad that an owner can't admit failure and argues with a reviewer. Waste of a good portion of my morning.
My wife and I stopped in on a recent trip to French Lick and were happy we did. The bagel sandwiches were delicious and the muffins were fantastic. The employees were unbelievably friendly and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Small town, trendy bagel shop with yummy breakfast bagel sandwiches, bagels+schmear, chips, salads, coffee drinks. Excellent customer service (even on busy morning, like when I visited). They close at 2:00PM. Parking is available nearby. Tables indoors + outdoors. To Go is also available. I would definitely visit again when in town next.
What lovely people and great food. It's basically bagels, breakfast sandwiches and coffee. All are great. The owners are just the nicest people, which is an added plus.
