First time here and I loved it. The place has a cozy feeling like you stepped back 100 years in time. Had the breakfast Horseshoe and I would say that you need to be max hungry going at that one, it's big. Service was good, food was hot, ready fast and coffee was good. Didn't realize they were here all this time and will definitely be back!

Entering the establishment I swear I got the feeling of stepping back in time! I can totally imagine a black and white picture of the diners drinking coffee, enjoying their meals 50yrs ago! What an odd sensation! Forward to now, the restaurant is straight out of a Norman Rockwell painting! The food was equally remarkable! I ordered a club sandwich and fries. When it arrived I actually noticed the work and preparation that went into the sandwich I didn't order anything special, but seems special is what I got! They served the fries perfectly cooked and in copius amounts! Definitely recommend!

1st time here! If you haven't tried Southside Cafe on the square in Rushville, it definitely needs to be put on your foodie bucketlist! We ordered the Breakfast Horseshoe one with biscuits and one with Texas Toast. Omgoodness! So flavorful and im pretty sure it touched my soul! 😋 Great friendly & fast service! Thanks for such a wonderful dining experience! We'll definitely be back in the future!

I actually haven’t eaten here yet but I called for help with a lunch order and the wait staff on the phone was beyond kind and so helpful. If this is there service over the phone, I am sure in person will be even better.

The Southside Cafe in Rushville Illinois! A Cute Small Town Café With Classic Diner Fare of the Region Main focus of this review is the Breaded Pork Tenderloin (BPT) although the Horseshoe is amazing as well. Very good cheese sauce (rarebit). The Breading was well seasoned, pepper came through and hints of garlic but not too salty with just enough amount of sweetness. Just a hint. Worked very well with the “brightness” that the toppings brought with it (lettuce, tomato, onion and mustard). The size was very nice since you get to enjoy the toppings quite quickly with each bite. No map sized redundancy here: this was not an exercise in novelty but instead an excercise in a well executed dish. Thickness was medium and not overcooked; the pork itself was actually seasoned and not plain. A quality tenderloin. The bun nicely complimented the entire sandwich. Fries were tasty and crisp. Would definitely recommend.

Nice setting. Had lunch for 2 people with extra side of fries for $20 including tip. Just drank water. This is typical Midwest small town diner food, but nicer setting and slightly better ingredients than average. It isn't a Whole Foods cafe or anything like that though. Just good food, reasonable price (slightly higher than average) and great environment.

Stopped in with my aunt and uncle to have coffee while we were waiting for a funeral service. The prices were ridiculous for a small town restaurant. Wasn't impressed.

One of those great small town family restaurants that serves both as a social meeting place and an eatery. The food is of the warm, comfort food variety typical of a good Midwestern cafe. There are daily specials as well as their standard menu. I had the meatloaf with cheesy potatoes and corn chowder. Everything was very good and the portions plentiful. You don't go away hungry. This is "stick to your ribs food". There is plenty of seating available and the staff exudes small town charm. If you're looking for a good, home cooked meal, I highly recommend you give South Side Cafe a try.
