This coffee shop of far from ordinary. Besides having great customer service, the croissants are unforgettable. Made with all natural ingredients, folded 36 times - this buttery flakey goodness will take your pallet on a trip to France. The monkey bread is a must try as well.

I bought the chocolate croissants and veggie quiche, and they were amazing. The croissants were perfectly flaky, rich and buttery, with the perfect amount of sweet from the chocolate. The quiche was rich yet light, and very flavorful, the perfect way to start your day.

I believe they just opened, we liked everything we had, I do think it will get even better with time. I'm glad there's a coffee place in downtown Elgin now that Arabaca is closing. I do hope they expand their food options, and the chalkboard menu maybe needs some rearranging. I came in looking for a Chai and I didn't see it on the menu. But then after I ordered something (which I liked), I saw the chai listed under espresso. I didn't think to look for chai under espresso. But that is just nitpicking. The drinks we got were very good. We will be back.

Beautiful little shop with the best croissant I have ever had. The amaretto chocolate cheesecake is incredible. The atmosphere is wonderful and the baristas have the best customer service skills. Even as they got busy Kelly still asked everyone if they wanted their pastries warmed. The crème brúlatte shakerato is so good no other iced coffee is going to compare again. You can definitely tell everything in this place is made with love. I absolutely recommend

I’m so grateful Sugar & Rhyme came to Elgin. The pastries and coffee drinks are delicious and made from scratch. Such high quality. The owners are so welcoming! I’ve been a repeat customer many times, and I look forward to coming back! I always leave with a smile. Highly recommend.

Cozy downtown location. Excellent pastries - both sweet and savory. Expresso drinks are also great. Try it!

One of my FAVORITE coffee shops!!! I had two drinks and the quiche and ham & gouda croissant on my first visit. Everything was tasty and perfectly sweet. I strongly appreciate being made from scratch at a fair price!!! The vibe is cozy and friendly, with beautiful art by the owner Kelly. Thank you so much for sharing your dream with the Elgin community! I'm definitely grateful to have the quality food and drinks you have to offer :)

Cute, locally run and owned Coffee Shop with delicious Pastries. Very reasonable prices considering what breakfasts costs at a commercial coffee house. They have all kinds of coffee options, including ice coffee blended in a cocktail shaker. All of Sugar & Rhymes pastries and dessert options are delicious, but the Croissants are to die for. I've had chocolate, ham & cheese and plain butter. The almond must be just as delicious, because they're always sold out by the time I get there. Next time, I'll call and do an order ahead a few days in advance. They also will wrap up your pastries (or coffee) to go, with instructions on how to reheat and not burn them in your own oven. Slightly burned they're still delicious. A word of warning, they're so big they don't fit in all toaster ovens.

I found out about this place thanks to the @downtownelgin Instagram and had to stop in to try it out. I enjoyed the cinnamon roll and the monkey bread was a fun treat, too. I will definitely be stopping in before my morning commutes on the metra.

I went in this morning and left impressed! I had the new vanilla matcha latte and chocolate croissant. The latte was delicious and the croissant was the best I’ve ever had! The croissant was beautiful, flaky and full of flavor. My friend also got the vanilla matcha latte and smoked Gouda and bacon croissant, she was just as impressed as I was. The staff was really friendly and accommodating. My friend and I were there for well over an hour and we were never rushed to leave. My only “complaint” but really it’s a suggestion, is to have more seating but I know it’s a limited space. I got the crème brûlée latte, monkey bread and more chocolate croissants to go once I was done so I could share it with my family, they all loved everything! 10/10 recommend, I hope this business stays in Elgin for a long, long time!

So cozy, and everything I’ve tried is excellent. I recommend stopping in to grab monkey bread for a snack if you are walking by. I’ve had a really good chocolate croissant for breakfast from here, and an awesome savory smoked ham and gouda croissant for lunch. Good music selection too; I like getting a little work done here in the morning with a latte.
