Whenever I am in Carlinville, I always stop in to Hawthorn Tree to get a coffee and a pastry for myself and a friend.
The coffee was delicious, the baristas were professional but still with personality, the shop is so cute, and they had food that met my dietary needs. Over all I am very happy with my visit.

Great coffee, friendly and helpful staff. Really glad we have a coffee shop in town, they do a great job. Great pastries and shop as well. My kids love the hot chocolates; hot ones in winter, frozen ones in the summer.
I’ve been here twice now, I know the owner, her husband is my doctor. I truly can not believe they allow there employees to treat the customers the way they do. I went in and ordered a mocha at 8:09 pm I was the second person in line and there were two people behind me. One person behind the counter and no other employees in sight. They get my order I stand to the side and wait. Eventually about 7 mins later a man and a women finally end there conversation in the side room about childbirth and come to help the only person actually working. But they continue the conversation and I’m sorry I don’t want to hear about the pain of childbirth while ordering coffee. Me, I’m still waiting. Eventually they get everyone else’s order finished but mine, mind you one person ordered a cold drink that didn’t look complicated. But the other ordered two hot drinks and was behind me. She got hers before I got mine. The guy then puts two cups in front of me and says there you go buddy, I said those two drinks are one hot mocha? He told me that was what I ordered and I said no. The other women says no they were for someone else. So I wait a total of 17 mins, the plaza has a mocha done in 2 mins. With a line. Finally I get my drink and leave. Will not give them another shot and I suggest you Go anywhere else.
Best coffee in town! 😋 The ladies in the morning that make the coffee are the best and very patient with me and my indecisiveness.
I'm waiting for my husband to finish teaching a class so I stopped at the local coffee shop. Ya'll know my coffee addiction. I've drank coffee all over the country and I have to say this is by far one of the best cappuccino's I have had. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get another one before I leave & I want to check out the Keto pastries & cheesecakes. I highly recommend this place. They also have comfy casual seating which would be great for visiting with friends. So before I left I bought a Keto peanut butter bar. It was good! Not as "peanut buttery" as I thought it would be but more fluffy & light. I enjoyed it an would definitely buy it again.
