We always get their pizza for takeout. If you don’t have a yearly pass you may have to pay an entrance fee in which case def not worth it unless you are planning on exploring the park. But the pizza is really good probably best on this side of the island imho.

Good food and service. Mainly ate there for the view, but day we were there it was overcast with no view of the rim. Would probably eat somewhere else a little less expensive if not getting the view.

Friendly staff and nice view of the crater. Food was okay with average flavor. Lunch starts at 11am. Recommend getting there early because it fills up quickly and parking can be hard to find.

Waited 45 minutes for two salads, a bowl of soup and a cheeseburger. Everything was mediocrely decent at best. End of the day if you’re hungry before your drive back - it works - but it is what it is.

The views are cool and it’s a unique setting but they were struggling service wise. Everything was good but just not great

She has seen better days. You can see that it once was nice, maybe 60 years ago. Our server was very nice and helpful. The food was exceptionally bad. If you've never seen a volcanic crater, yes, go. Don't go for the food.

I wanted to love this restaurant. But I just can’t get there. The view is incredible. Especially at dusk/early evening. The food was good, the surf (the lobster was very good) and turf was nice. Service was…just ok. I’m pretty sure they forgot our order in the kitchen and it took a very lengthy delay before we received it. Normally, on “island time” that isn’t a problem, but we had a night tour of the volcano planned and had to rush to eat a higher price meal. I’d tried it again, but be weary of the service.

This place was amazing!! It had windows all along the whole restaurant so you could see the glowing crater! Truly a one of a kind experience! Got the lobster crab cakes were super delicious, I got the stuffed chicken was really great! my mom got the kempachi was okay, it's hard when u catch em all the time but the sauce was really good, would have been nicer if it came with sumthing other then rice...over all was an amazing one of a kine time and would highly recommend!! Can't wait to go back and would love to stay the night there!

If I could give this place a zero I would. Sure the location is great but the service is awful. We were seated late for our reservation. After 15 mins of still waiting for water or to be greeted by our server we had to ask the hostess. Note others seated after were given water and greeted. She was non responsive and did not even verbalize a response but just walked away when asked about our server and how others had been greeted. Another 5 minutes went by and a server came stating "it wasn't his fault as no one told him he had a table and he got busy." Needless to say after 25 mins of the unprofessional behavior by many and absolute lack of caring we left. We opted to eat leftover Costco pizza over staying as we were sure the service was not going to get any better.

The food was pretty trash when me and my girlfriend had dinner recently. For a restaurant in a beautiful national park I expected much tastier food. However, I understand that we are not food critics and maybe are palette has not evolved to taste such food. My issue with the restaurant was that after talking to the waitress about how we did not like our food and left one entire plate with out eating it, she completely disregarded our comment and didn’t care. We did not want money or for our plate to be taken off the bill but we did expect some professionalism from a waitress whose literal job is to provide good customer service. Anyway, food is trash and so is the customer service. On the bright side, drinks are actually pretty ok.

Best rib-eye steak I've had in a long time! 😋 Drinks and desserts were perfect, too. We had a nice table with a view - too bad it was rainy and foggy - we weren't able to see the lava show tonight. Food, dessert & drinks were excellent ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

TLDR: make a reservation for four if you want to see the volcano from your table. The nasty little hostess lied through her teeth to us about seating at check in and then changed her story when she seated us. Absolutely ruined my experience, even if every one else was wonderful. I asked if we could have a seat by the window and she said yes, if one opened up. When it was our turn to be seated, she took us to the farthest table from the windows. When I asked about one of the many open window tables, she told me that parties of 5 (our table only had 4 seats because our 5th was a baby who did not need a high chair, which I made clear at check in), couldn’t sit at the window🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

If you want to make pleasant memories with your loved ones, I absolutely do not recommend it. Worst steak and service I've experienced in 45 years. I visited with my wife and 7-year-old son, and I had no choice but to visit because there were no restaurants around, but the food and waitress' service were very unsatisfactory. It is recommended to prepare food elsewhere in advance

maybe i went at the wrong time, food just so so, waiters are very busy, but most customers have to wait for a long time to see a glass of water. Of course, if you think you are going to see the volcano, it is still quite perfect

Nope nope and nope. Ordered stuffed chicken. It was stuffed with two slices of onion and un-edible parts of some unidentified green. I tried to eat it. But the chicken was so dry and burnt. The sides were a joke as well. Ridiculously expensive. Extremely disappointed. Staff was sweet. They are doing want they can. And they ran out of bread. So we had no bread.

The staff are all super friendly. We had very tasty food for both the breakfast buffet, and dinner. If you are staying at Volcano House, this is a great place to eat and take in the view of the lava! Fun cocktails, and yes, a kids menu is available.
