Was so excited to visit this establishment on my recent visit to Savannah; boy was I disappointed! My large latte actually tasted worse than running water through a used Keurig pod. Absolutely no flavor at all-just watery and bland; the omelet was ok but nothing to brag about. This is a self serve shop - the only service you get is them handing you food and drink. You even have to get your own lid for your drink, your utensils, and bus your table. Only pros were the eclectic clientele and the cashier was very nice and didn’t make me feel rushed. Would never go back.
This is a coffee shop and a strictly vegetarian/vegan restaurant. It has what I'd call a casual hippie vibe (old worn tables and chairs, bus your own tables, obvious composting and recycling focus). The food is very good...I really enjoyed the frittata (not vegan), others in our party were pleased with their dishes. Vegan choices are clearly marked, though it should also be obvious from the ingredients, which are listed on the menu board.
Amazing coffee, cool atmosphere, great vegan options. I'll definitely be back. 🌿🙏🕉️🤙
Amazing little spot, on of my favorites while I was visiting Savannah! The breakfast burrito was as good as my latte! And the coffee cake 🍰 was so good I talked about it for days!
Excellent vegan and vegetarian menu. I ate here two days in a row and really enjoyed it.
Every Sunday they have a “Brunch Bowl” made with items from the farmers market the day before. It’s so fun and healthy start to the morning. The scones are amazing too.
First time going in here and I don't think I will be back! I ordered a sandwich and ice tea. The man taking my order seemed distracted from trying to pay for his friends order. I told him twice I wanted a sandwich and all he rang me up for was the tea. I didn't want to have to tell him a third time so I just got my tea. It was large but the cup was entirely full of ice and literally I took a couple sips and the tea was gone. I asked to speak to a manager and waited for about 10 min. I didn't get to talk to anyone. Not a good vibe.
Good cold brew and fast service for how busy they were!
Stopped at this coffee shop because it was near my air B&B. There is a white line you follow to get in line. They were out of the syrup I wanted for my latte so I opted for a white chocolate mocha. Mocha was good but the star was the everything bagel. The bagel was absolutely out of this world! Loved sitting on the back patio to eat under the lemon tree. The shop is environmentally friendly. They have several selections of whole beans for purchase at a serve yourself bar. I was kind of taken aback though when I got the front staff because all over the city everywhere I’ve gone everyone has been so friendly and helpful and the front staff here had a very indifferent attitude. I guess the city has just spoiled me to friendly people and I know not everyone is rainbows and sunshine. All in all good experience and great coffee.
Reliably good food and coffee. A great choice to take with you to the park
I was looking for a vegan baker to make my son’s 3rd birthday since he has a serve dairy allergy. The Sentient Bean came up in my search so I gave them a shot and I’m glad I did. After 2 years of eating dairy free cakes, this place really know how to do a good cake. It wasn’t a traditional birthday cake flavor but I will say for a child who normally doesn’t partake in sweets he ate this cake and was looking for more. As I waited they had a lot of vegan and non vegan options along with breakfast and drinks. If you’re ever in the area this place is worth a stop!
The coffee is excellent! Especially the mocha and hot London fog. Breakfast is good as well though not very flavorful. Very cute patio and interior.
I stopped in with my husband and daughter the other day. Ordered a frozen caramel latte. It was very watered down, had chunks of ice instead of being blended smooth, and had to wait 15 minutes for a straw to even drink it, during which time the drink I was holding melted and was watered down to begin with. 20 mins for a nearly $7 coffee with no straw that was a waste... threw it out after drinking a about a quarter of it. Husband threw his out after one sip. There was maybe 2 drops of caramel flavor in it, and no sweetener whatsoever. If it's your practice for customers to add their own sweetener you should at least have straws so we could stir it into our "frozen" drink. Customer service was lacking, and the place seemed a bit dirty. Considering I'm not the only one according to other reviews, it seems that the shop could benefit from consistency training, so that your recipes are the same from one drink to the next.
Great location and reason to make the walk through the park. Good coffee, OK snacks, friendly staff.
Delicious food, friendly staff and amazing coffee. Do I need to say more? I had the vegan burrito and my friend had the regular burrito. Super fresh. Definitely coming back every work trip.
The best vegan/vegetarian menu I've encountered since arriving in Savannah. There is a large que for a reason. Not to be missed.
Each time I pass through savannah the sentient has always been a standard stop. Typically it hits all the marks; Warm service, an emphasis on quality vegan food, and a fantastic roast. Today it felt like it had lost all of its charm. My burrito had one piece of vegan sausage, the coffee tasted watered down, a $1.50 charge for oat milk, a run down bathroom, and the service felt off. What happened? I’m hoping the next time I drop by it will be better.
Had a vegan burrito, cheese brownie, and drip coffee. The food quality is okay, caters to college students. Coffee is refillable for $1, which I really liked. Other than that, I don't recommend the vegan burrito. Did not sit well with my stomach, had little flavor so it needed to be doused in hot sauce.
Stopped here while visiting Savannah. The tomato and mozzarella scone is literally SO good. I regret not buying a bunch before we left. I'm literally still dreaming about that scone. The coffee was good too!
Update 2023: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Decided to give this place another try and the food is still disappointing, for me. The BBQ tofu rap didn't taste anything like barbecue but the spicy sauce kind of overpowered everything. It's also more like a snack then a meal, small portion. I am going to change my rating to 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars though because they usually do have very good bakery items and friendly service. 2018: ⭐⭐⭐ Their sloppy joes used to be my favorite... I'm glad they finally started accepting cards but the last couple times I've been here the food (BBQ tacos and a wrap) was disappointing. 😕
