I absolutely love this coffee shop. They’re freshly baked goods are amazing. The coffee and espresso are so enjoyable. Friendly service. Locally owned. It’s also so neat to see the coffee beans being roasted!
I couldn’t have more positive remarks about this place. While I have only been a handful of times, their iced lattes and cold brews are two of our favorite drinks here. The food is table service but drinks are counter service. There is ample parking and seating. Beautiful art that decorated the walls. Two bathrooms for customer use, outdoor seating options, and a viewing area into their roasting properties. The barista staff is kind and helpful. They have many options of beans, ground or whole, merchandise, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, hot and iced drinks, on the go beverages as well such as water, bottled options. They even have GF options. We will be a return customer forever!
Local coffee roaster with beans from around the world, he's even beaten Starbucks to a few growers. Pastries and sandwiches are served here as well. Highly recommend the blue/blackberry cobbler muffin. Excellent service & place to meet up with a friend or two. 2pm close is a bummer somedays. Talked to the owner Gary yesterday, very nice guy. Coffee is the best I've had anywhere in a long time. One of the few original places in town, would love for them to expand!
excellent coffee in a cool space. friendly staff. Get the orange cranberry muffin! Honey bee is tasty, as is cold brew and whole bean or ground coffee to take home. There's a reason they've won so many awards!

Always organic espresso, need I say more? They do brew some organic coffees but not daily. I would say this spot is more for grab a coffee and go or meet with a friend and hang out session. The environment is not a work friendly space although people do work from there. There is a lot of traffic in and out and the music is very upbeat and makes it hard to concentrate on work. As far as the coffee. My first try is always an Iced latte with caramel so that I can keep my reviews consistent. I wasn’t too much of a fan. I think the caramel had way too sweet of a taste. I do plan to go back and try a different flavor. Also, def more expensive then surrounding places. $7.22 for a medium iced latte with oat milk. Might make sense since it’s organic They do have tables with outlets if you need plugged in. There are also 3-4 tables outside on the sidewalk.
The liquid crack may be the best iced coffee I’ve ever had.
The owner/managers here are an absolute delight to meet each time we come in. The service they provide is consistently impeccable. Let's talk about the coffee. My first latte here was served with beautiful art from the founder of the business a few years ago. The first sip was a full-flavor experience that redefined what I thought to be real coffee. This is how coffee is meant to be experienced. I now make my lattes at home and exclusively buy my beans from Black Gold. This way, I can enjoy the coffee and the experience whenever I choose. I am grateful to support this local business that takes pride in the quality of its brews and the care they provide for environmentally conscientious farmers. Favorite local coffee shop! My boyfriend and I travel for work and are always trying local coffee shops and this is by far the best we’ve had. The staff there are always so friendly and welcoming as well. We were stopping so often that we decided to start getting the cold brew growler and it is so worth it! Once you buy the growler you can get it refilled for only $20 (plus a little extra if you want flavor added). Such a good deal and the coffee tastes amazing. The honey bee iced coffee is my favorite and my boyfriend loves the turtle iced coffee. Definitely a must try if you’re in the Venice area!
As someone with severe ADHD and social anxiety, asking me to wait in line with 20+ people in tightly confined spaces filled with even more people is a big ask. So as I often do in situations like that, I put on a video and held it to my ear to listen to it. A woman behind the counter called out very loudly to me, saying I needed to turn off my phone (much louder than anything else in the store). She asked me to stop watching a video on my phone because they don't allow that. They are well within their rights to make whatever rules they want in their business. I'd argue that I have a disability, and they should have been accommodating. But there are plenty of places that do, so I won't be coming back. EDIT: After writing this review I was contacted by the owner of this business and he threatened to get the authorities involved for expressing my opinion about their business.
My new favorite spot. While I waited for my coffee the owner shared stories about the communities he imports coffee from and the people who make it all happen. Such a warm experience every time I visit. Try the Honey Latte.
Coffee smelled good and my daughter enjoyed it. The food was ok and the prices were high. Atmosphere waa friendly and the place was a popular meet up.
Coffee shop owner Gary Lauters has established a lovely coffee house with an in-house roasting service in the heart of Venice, FL. The products are unique and of surpassing quality: smoothies, iced and hot coffees of varieties you'll likely find nowhere else, pastries, mixed coffee treats, French press made to order, truly fresh-roasted beans from around the world, sandwiches, bagels, croissants, paninis, shakes, Rishi teas, house truffles, apparel, and works from local artists. They offer gluten-free and vegan All of the goods are made on site, so one can certainly be assured of freshness. Everybody is quite fastidious about the quality of the product and the service was particularly friendly and swift. Our serveuse, Savannah, was particularly bright, quick, and friendly. The products all seemed amazing. I certainly enjoyed my "Bullfrog" (chocolate/mint/espresso served iced or hot). My friends raved about the cold brew. However, I found that above even the superb quality of the products they craft, the knowledge and passion brought by the proprietor was remarkable. He was kind enough to take my whole party back to the roasting area and gave us an interesting tour and discussion about coffee production from seed to cup. When one learns of his professional credentials, it's not a big surprise that his considerable knowledge is heavily bent toward coffee. He could easily be among any number of executives in corporate coffee, but from discussion, it is plain that he has a bone or two to pick with some of the titans of the industry, primarily for what they are doing to biodiversity. In chatting with him, you'll find that personal relationships have a great deal to do with the varieties of coffee he offers. Many of these varieties are of sorts from small harvesters that don't receive much exposure from larger businesses. You owe it to yourself to make a stop, have a chat, and maybe learn a little something in the bargain.
I wish this place was open late, but also happy the quality is more important than having subpar employees. Coffee and service is an A++ and their breakfast sandwiches are really good! 👍... Update this place is still A++
We only stopped to buy coffee to take home. They roast their coffee right there. But they have a cafe too.

Saw this place was highly rated. Ended up coming 2 days in a row. Iced coffee, regular dark roast and bagels were delicious. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff. Roast the beans while you wait. Great spot.
My go to local roastery, bakery, and café! Black gold is convenient to my place of work. They serve fine specialty coffee. My favorite drink, medium mocha blanco w/extra shot of expresso! This place has a relaxing atmosphere. Clean environment. Owner is nice, great staff, and they all deliver exceptional customer service! Thank you!
