came in for memorial day because the food looked really great, and i do have to say the food was good, however my sister and I got the cereal milk lattes (again great) but when they were done, we watched 5-6 servers walk by our drinks and let them sit there for about 10 minutes, and even our server walked by them and didn't come back for them. I ended up walking over and picking them off the bar... The only other issue was my mom got the chicken plate and asked for ranch on the side for her salad, and the plate came out with balsamic vinaigrette on the salad, so we asked to get that fixed, which our server obliged. not sure if it was because they had a limited crew today, especially on a holiday, but small things like that do make an impact. regardless, the food is good, the staff is nice for the most part, but just a higher attention to service would have made this review higher.
This place was amazing! Not what I expected when I walked up too. Great out of town restaurant for sure. Highly recommend.
The customer service and good was A1. Definitely will return again.
I have had several good meals from The Local, so I’ve ordered from them via Uber Eats several times recently. My lunch meals have always been great, but every, single one of my dinner orders have been an absolute disaster. Different chef/staff?? I ordered a burger and paid extra for cheese, bacon, etc, and they delivered me a plain burger, over cooked, on a plain bun. No toppings, no sauce, nothing on the side. I hadn’t eaten all day, so I sucked it up, but was hoping this was a fluke. Ordered the same thing again - I got the bacon this time and pickles, but no cheese, no sauce, etc. Last night, I ordered a chicken dish, and the chicken was still pink. I was too afraid to eat pink chicken (obviously), so again, I requested a refund and did not have anything for dinner. On the positive, I have the motivation to prep a bunch of meals today and will save a ton of money doing so. On the negative, ordering delivery from here is a definitive no, unless it’s a lunchtime meal with a chef who actually knows how to cook and serve food. Would love for them to address this, but so far, they have not.
The overall atmosphere of The Local was very welcoming! My server was attentive and even walked me through a few popular items because it was my first time! I ended up choosing the Portabella Mushroom Sandwich and it was sooooo good! I already want to go back and get it again!
The food was amazing and the atmosphere was comfortable clean and relaxing The chef actually came out to deliver our bread pudding to go Would highly recommend
I was really hoping to leave 5 stars but our take out experience was not worth that. We ordered the Arugala Fig Crostini starter, Pasta Miramar, The Hendrick burger, and a bowl of soup (which turned out to be tomato soup). We ordered online and picked up after about 30 mins. The order was ready when I arrived, which was great. The decor and ambiance was great: modern yet calm and mellow. It was not packed but slightly busy and everyone looked to be enjoying themselves. The staff were all friendly. I grabbed my order, the hostess got the door for me since I had my sleeping toddler in my arms, got back in the car and headed home to enjoy our first try of this place. The Hendrick burger was AMAZING! Cooked a perfect medium as I requested. Well balanced ingredients and tons of flavor! I definitely recommend it! The Arugala Fig Crostini was not very enjoyable. It seemed they just laid the crostini in the bottom of the take out box and made a salad on top. There was plenty of cheese, dried cranberries, and was heaping with arugala, but not much crispy prosciutto sprinkled on top, and only a slight drizzle of balsamic glaze. The fig aoioli came on the side and was a good amount. It was just difficult to eat and not well balanced. The Pasta Miramar was ok but had a sauce that was thin and lacking in flavor. There was not much sausage in the dish. The tomato soup was not particularly great, but it wasn't bad. When we ordered online it just mentioned seasonal and chef inspired so we were taking a chance on that. I could have called to check but I'm not very picky so figured whatever we got would be fine. It was flavorful, but very acidic. A tomato bisque would have likely hit the spot. We will likely give this location another shot but dine in next time. I will update my review if I have a better experience.
The service is good depending on the person. The atmosphere is especially good on the outdoor patio. I dont like the indoor atmosphere as much because they have tvs running most of the time. The food is nothing special but they have good appetizers at dinner and good fries.
Nice quaint place, with friendly service, avoid the roast beef, it was a few strips of beef, which was dry, accompanied by onions, the salmon looked better
Was charged $52 up charge for Herradura margaritas. Bartender asked which tequila and my wife said Herradura silver which we assumed to be the regular silver only to find out it was Herradura silver directo. So we paid the standard price of 40 for the 4 drinks plus 52 upcharge. 92 for 4 margaritas
Coming from Dt John’s, Rivertown area… we only wish we had a restaurant like this where we live. The Local.. would be a great fit for this area! We have visited this restaurant three times. I never been disappointed.. The wait staff and all helpers are very helpful, kind, ‘& offer there help on all levels.. we’ve been there on Wednesday night when they have live music, which makes it even more special. We enjoy the food choices, and the wine is great.. plus sharing desert is always worth it when it’s homemade !! The only thing I don’t like are the chairs I don’t find them to be super comfortable, but I can overlook that because everything else is great.!! We will return , and at some point we will try the local in Neptune Beach area, as well. Keep up the great work and smiles .. and you’ll keep us coming back !! Tina Catanzaro & Will Straus 😋😋😋❤️❤️❤️👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
The service was great but we've never tried at busy hours. Nice and friendly place. The food is amazing. Great size, great price. The flavors are unique and in perfect harmony. Highly recommend
Clean restaurant and our server was nice and timely. My husband and I were the first ones there Monday morning so our expectation was high for the food. However, we were sadly disappointed. Our food just wasn’t fresh. We tried the chicken and waffles. The chicken was either old , over cooked or from the day before. It was rubbery in texture and gave more of a chicken patty taste than a chicken filet. The waffles were cold like it was made 2 hours before opening. Being the first one inside the establishment we were def expecting fresh food. But it was everything but that. However, the establishment was nice.
We shared a very disappointing first experience at the local. There was hardly anyone waiting when we arrived. The table next to us ordered after us and got their food like 20 minutes before us for one. Being the only people of a different race I almost feel we weren't wanted there. So it started. Our water cups were dirty. Then we ordered an appetizer spinach dip, 1 burger and the chicken sandwich. Then the table that ordered after us got their meals and appetizer. We wait another 20 minutes and finally our food came. Why after being there 40 minutes did we get lukewarm spinach that also didn't look appealing? Then a minute later the entrees. The burger was cold, the chicken sandwich burnt to hell and still was not hot. We Definitely felt like they didn't want us there or to come back because how can this be an experience? While everyone else received food timely and that looked good? As we left and complained a perfect looking meal went by us, but they were content on giving us garbage. We sent it back and happily so. This was crazy
The Local is a hidden gem in Jacksonville. From the moment you walk in, you can tell that this is a place that prides itself on excellent food and service. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a rustic charm that's perfect for a cozy night out or a casual lunch with friends. The menu at The Local is simply outstanding. They use locally sourced ingredients whenever possible, which means that every dish is bursting with flavor and freshness. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty burger, a crisp salad, or some delicious seafood, you'll find something to love here. The service at The Local is also top-notch. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to make recommendations or answer any questions you may have. And if you're a craft beer lover, you'll definitely want to check out their impressive selection of local brews. Overall, I highly recommend The Local to anyone looking for a great dining experience in Jacksonville. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.
I love the Cajun Shrimp and grits. It’s my new favorite in town. The outdoor could use some cleaning.
The food was good but my bun was burnt and the fries are cold and the hamburger was undercooked.
Food was decent. Place was beautiful. I had the chicken & Waffle and my partner had the steak & eggs (the potatoes were amazing) the steak was eh. I did enjoy my dish though.
Not the same as the beach location. Food was different hot honey chicken was not as good. Atmosphere was not the same. A bit pricey for quantity and quality received. A glass of Meiomi wine was $12 for a six ounce pour.
One of my favorite places for mimosas and chickens & waffles. Everyone is super friendly, it’s clean and food is delicious.
