Finally had an opportunity to visit this warm and inviting coffee shop. Friendly peeps, delicious bagel & smear, and of course the maple sweetened latte. Hello from PHX😉

Ashlawn offers a variety of coffee/espresso beverages that are fairly priced if limited in their available sizes. I tried an iced latte with house-made vanilla syrup, which was decent (next time I would try a different syrup). A number of confections were also available, as well as a variety of coffee beans. There is a good amount of both indoor & outdoor seating.

The coffee is phenomenal, and everyone in the Old Saybrook/Old Lyme area should regularly come here for the coffee. For some reason, I get the vibe that the staff isn't happy. They seem stressed out whenever I go there, which is atypical for cafés; a happy barista is happy to make more conversation. This somewhat detracts from the environment, and I find myself going to Starbucks more frequently.

Good coffee overall, nice location and friendly helpful staff. I ordered a macchiato and my wife a latte. We both shared a sandwich and some backed goods. The espresso in the macchiato had a burnt bitter flavor unlike most really good espressos. It was brought to the attention of the staff members and was changed for a caramel latte by the friendly staff. I’m not sure if it was just a bad batch or what, but just something to be aware of if you order and notice it too. Anyway, it’s a nice stop and would go back to if in the area.

Love this place - it’s my favorite coffee shop ever! One suggestion: please add the option of curbside pick up to the online order system. There are many who have reasons for not being able to go inside the shop including the immunocompromised and parents.

A very cute coffee spot, with a decent amount of seating and a small kids play area in the back (which is a lifesaver). Coffee is maybe 3.75/5 with no real complaints, just lacks a little flavor. Didn't try a sandwich but they look good. Also relatively inexpensive (coming from a NYer)

We love Ashlawn. It’s always delicious and quick to grab a coffee. We buy their beans as well and it’s the only coffee we drink at home 😊 their baked goods are also delicious. My only complaint is that I wish they were open earlier. My husband takes the train to Boston early in the AM and always says he wishes he was able to stop before getting on!

Coffee is good, but not great. Not even close to the best coffee in the area. Somehow they ran out of brewed dark roast coffee to purchase. However they had lots in bags that somehow couldn't find its way into the brew pot. Not a great look. The light roast coffee was not an acceptable substitute. The young man behind the counter (fully masked), did give an accurate description of the bagged coffee I bought, so great job by him. I could not have described it any better.

No hello, no may I help you, just a blank annoyed stare. Rude, judgmental and condescending jerk took our order. We got a cup of ice with a splash of coffee. Nope not going back

I wish I could rate them higher!! I cannot say enough good things about Ashlawn Coffee. The light roast hot coffee and snickerdoodle latte were incredible. They had a menu of seasonal latte options that all sounded amazing. We also had a jalapeño bagel with chive cream cheese and a bacon, egg and cheese on a cheddar chive biscuit. Everything was great. The bagel was soft but perfectly crispy on the outside. The sandwich has crispy bacon, melted cheese and the biscuit was perfect. Also cute decor, relaxing ambiance, and friendly staff. I will make a trip to the shore again just to come here!!

I’ve been going here for years and do love the iced coffee. However, it is so inconsistent. I have thrown away so many inedible coffees. It’s frustrating. I hope for more consistency so I can return. Even the bagged ground beans have been bad. My last bag went into the garbage. It’s extremely frustrating to support a local business and get this in return.
