Love to support the local shops when we’re “just passing through” We had a pumpkin chai in May, that’s a hard find, and a vanilla coconut latte that were both delicious, but more notably was the extra friendly service, extensive menu and cute, clean, convenient place! We wish you the best!
Need that special uplift to go about your day? The Coffee Merchant in the Bayfield Grocery Store parking lot is quick with many great options. With the full espresso bar and tons and tons of flavor options, you are sure to get your coffee just how you like it. From lattes to cappuccino to non coffee energy drinks combined with delicious muffins and different types of bagels, you will be glad you stopped by.
I ate something that said burrito. I didn't like it. 😕 I am from the area and this wasn't at all what I expected.
The service is prompt, and from what I have had so far the products have been wonderful.

The best freaking coffee in the La Plata county. They use Cuvee coffee, which is roasted to perfection, never bitter. I am sensitive to how coffee is roasted either by getting acid reflux or it will just make me jittery with no energy/focus boost. Cuvee coffee is roasted properly that I get a smooth energy increase no jitters and no acid reflux reaction. The staff and owners are the best and Absolutely hilarious, so who wouldn't want to see them to start your day. They are quick to serve customers, there is always a line, because they are that good. They have "reward" programs if you might call it that. If you save your coffee sleeve and get stamps on it, 10 stamps equals a free coffee beverage of choice. Also if you preload a gift card with $25 you get a free beverage with it. Prices are average, but not overdone like some coffee shops where you walk out wondering What else might come with the drink that cost more then your lunch.

We stopped for coffee here on our way out of Durango right around New Years. Neither of the two women working were wearing masks, which when Covid cases were at an all-time high in Colorado was unnerving. Which made it clear that they didn't care about the health and safety of their customers. And on top of that the coffee was nothing special.

We had been camping @Valliceto resivor and we headed to visit our daughter in Alamosa when our atv trailer popped off the hitch in Bayfield, right in front of the Bayfield Pharmacy and across the street from the Coffee Merchant. We were a bit distraught, thinking we would have to ditch our trailer and rent something to make it safely to our destination when this sweet lady came running across the street with two very large strawberry ice smoothies. She simply said, "you guys look like you could use a treat" and handed my husband and me a little slice of heaven on a hot day. Thanks so much for your kindness, you were such a blessing when we found ourselves in a jam! I wish you many sweet returns!!
