Wonderful place to have a meal, stock up on supplies and purchase fuel. Nice family atmosphere. Looking forward to our next visit!
stayed here. no cell service, no wifi. had to drive 5 mi and park in front of library. wish i had known. trying to schedule dr appointments. may have to find another room for tonite. nice people tho. nut they have tv but no wifi!! certainly not MY priotity. Room was extremely well appointed and very clean, however. Excellent birding at this location also -- they keep their feeders well filled. Merely giving them 2 stars because of lack of wi-fi since i travel all over the world and most third-world countries have either cell service or wifi. These days one should advertise that they DON'T have wifi!
Don't stop here if you don't have too. Their prices are overly expensive and the customer service is pretty awful! We were camping near there. We wanted to by liquor, a beanie, and a couple of post cards. We also wanted to use the wifi (quickly) just to send a text message to let friends know where we were camping. The older woman with blonde hair wouldn't let us sign on. (they have 4 wifi networks.) very disappointing. For 20/30 minutes further you can be in Downieville. Much better pricing on Everything and incredibly nice folks. Definitely worth skipping Bassett's and heading to Downieville instead!
Friendly convenient gem, indispensable if you're camping nearby
Been coming to this place since I was a toddler, couldn't recommend it more. Great service, great food, and best of all incredible ice cream to end a long day of hiking. Love this place!
We ended up here because we were running low on gas and they were the only gas station around for miles. The friendliest staff you will ever meet. The food is delicious and they served it right away. I will definitely be going back when I am in the area.
Nice folks and good lunch. Had a burger and it was great
Great service (very friendly) and good home-style food at a fair price. Only open from May to Halloween.
These are such good people. I've now been twice when I've traveled in the area, and they have gone above and beyond both times. It's always nice to know there is gas and credit card use when you are out and about, and they have great milkshakes.
The best snow mobile trails in the state as far as I am concerned. No vehicles allowed without tracks makes this the ultimate place to go when you are a novice or an expert. This place has something for everyone including snowshoeing and just getting out into the beautiful snow covered lakes and streams I Love this place for winter time fun and recreation activities.
Bassett’s Station is a gem in the Tahoe National Forest at the base of Gold Lake Rd. The rooms they have are very accommodating, with a small kitchen in each room. You can also have breakfast or lunch at the cafe and general store. I suggest the Bassetts Breakfast. PS: The only gas for miles around. Scott and Linda are wonderful host. You won’t be disappointed!!
The only real grocery/diner left on 49 and last chance for gas until Camptonville. Sierra City's gas station is closed indefinitely and it’s Market is decidedly understocked. Downieville gas station has a tank problem that probably isn’t going to be repaired anytime soon (2020 august now), the market is more akin to a 7-11 and the hardware store has scant fishing supplies, so load up on supplies here, pickins are slim until you are down to Grass Valley. Food is excellent, if you have the time get a milkshake.
Thank you for making my family's bi-yearly camping experience amazing. The kids look forward to ice cream and us parents look forward to the coffee, beer and great service!
I can't say enough good things about this seemingly overlooked all in one store! Anyone ever in the area needs to bypass graeagle and head to Bassetts. Everything you need and the best customer service in the area. Everyone is so friendly and helpful and glad to have your business. We are repeat customers year after year.
I like going there to get supplies that I need when ever I need them staff is friendly
If you are out hiking through the Sierras or just out for a drive, I highly recommend stopping for lunch. Food was amazing and staff was very friendly. Lots of history on the walls and owners chatted and joked with guests. Did I mention the food was really good????
This is a place you absolutely have to visit at least one time, if you ever travel down this highway. The quaint setting is relaxing, the store has everything you need in passing. A good place to make a memory.
Favorite ‘down home’ food and friendly helpful staff—in sight of The Buttes. Sand Pond not to be missed a few miles away!! Take a picnic🍦🌭🍎☀️
Bassett Station is a fantastic place to pickup last minute items or for a great meal after a long day of travel. The ice cream is fantastic. This past weekend my car broke down. While the I waited hours upon hours for a tow truck driver they let me use their phone and treated me like family. The entire staff is beyond friendly. Since I was there for almost a full day awaiting a tow truck I was able to try their breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus. Every meal is stellar and reasonably priced. THANK YOU ALL AGAIN!!!!!
Great spot to replenish. Gas, Propane, Store and restaurant. Helpful and nice staff. Always enjoy stopping in.
