Very friendly owner, very good egg rolls, hotdogs and sandwiches. Certainly a place for a nice lunch.
Beautiful little restaurant! Rollie welcomed us warmly and made us feel like home. The food was great, quick and the price is just right. Stop here and you won’t regret it!
We were out here for an archery shoot and didn't know where to go for lunch. We ended up settling for Shorty's, but it ended up being much more than settling! Got in there and the owner came out to welcome us, explained the food and why/where of the food. It was super interesting, the atmosphere was amazing and the food....ohhhhh the food....it was REALLY good. Would definitely recommend going there, we will be here for another 5 days and you can expect us to be back there more than once!
Very nice couple owns and operates this place. Near and in historic buildings. Lovely little local place to stop for a bite!
Great food. Great people. GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY. Best Halo-Halo!!!!
So heckin good!
This was an amazing surprise to find on our road trip while passing through tiny Shasta. The food was delicious, and we ended up ordering lumpia to take away with us. After a long personal quest to try halo-halo, this place finally fulfilled that dream of mine. We highly recommend stopping in!
The staff was amazing. She was very nice and accommodating. The platter was great and delicious. The siopao and siomai are so so. But it's kind of fun to find a Filipino eatery in the middle of an old mining town park. Its like one of its perks.
Very friendly and REALLY good siomai!
Absolutely delicious food, everything on the menu is so good it’s hard to not get it all, the pastries are always fresh and delicious and the owner and his family are always very sweet and treat their customers like family.
We were on our way back from hiking and decided to stop in for lunch at shorty’s and were so pleasantly surprised at how delicious our meals were! We ordered the Filipino platters and they were incredible. Best authentic Filipino food in the whole area and the owner was so cute and kind. Their menu also had American food which we didn’t try but I’m sure is equally delicious.
Lady working there was very sweet. I got the Stagecoach sandwich which was really good and kinda unique.
Wifey and I made it back to Shorty's Eatery today. We treated mom to something new. Since we had such an excellent experience last weekend, we decided to try some more delectable items. Of course we had to get what we really enjoyed before. It's good to know they're able to keep their excellent quality consistent. Lumpia, tender juicy, meat filled treats with a perfect crispy exterior. The homemade sweet chili sauce is outstanding. The perfect pairing. Pancit, those light little noodles combined with cabbage, carrot, onion, scallion and chicken; drizzled with a wedge or two of lemon. I can't get over how much I enjoy this dish, especially on a warm summer day. Light, bright and filling. This should be a meal in itself (no we didn't finish it). The meat buns...bao (?) I wonder if these things freeze well...for the weekends I won't be able to make it up there. Soft and delicate exterior, savory, sweet, tender interior. Dang these things are delicious. Chicken Adobo: I'm waiting for the weekend when it's cold and raining outside. I'll gladly drive up to sit on the patio and watch the rain fall from the sky and enjoy this delectable treat in the cool evening air. A rich, deep, flavorful plate of bone in chicken, that's so tender it literally falls off the bone. Hints of garlic and soy linger in what I can only guess as filipino comfort food. I should add the white rice, which is usually wierd for me since white rice is usually just a cheap filler to accompany a meal.... Not this rice though. It wasn't steamed beyond recognition, like it usually is when picking up rice at, let's say a chinese take out restaurant chain. This rice was lighter, a hint of sweetness, and a little "tooth" left in the grain, think al dente pasta. The texture between the rice and the chicken adobo pairing was nice. This will definitely be my cool weather treat...if it ever rains here again. If it doesn't rain...Halo Halo! What the heck was this compilation of interesting and
Very good food and the brownies are really good too!
Only stopped on our way through town, looking for a sweet treat and not expecting much , but wow the shortbread and brownie were WAY better than I’ve ever had!!! If we’re ever in the area again, we’ll definitely stop and try more of what they offer!
Delicious food, fun choices, neat little town. Mmmmmm... those lemon bars. Wow!
Great Lil Restaurant With The Bomb Phillipino food
Wow! I have been a local in Old Shasta my whole life and never expected to have a hidden gem like this in town. It is definitely worth the trip from neighboring cities too. I got the platter and have never had such amazingly juicy AND crispy lumpia in my life. The chicken is so tender and fell right off the bone…and I want to take a bath in the sauce it was cooked in. You need to come here and check it out!
Lumpia was DELICIOUS & the fresh, perfectly baked brownies with the perfect slightly crispy crust were to die for! The owner, his daughter (so sweet) & his sister couldn’t have been friendlier! Can’t wait to go back for more lumpia 😋 (Lumpia was so good I didn’t get a pic until we had only one left 😂) Perfect place to stop-picnic benches to sit at & you can check out the Shasta State Historical Park too.
This is a well hidden Gem of a place in Old Shasta. It says bakery on the sign outside and yes it has bakery goods but it also has a menu variety which was absolutely delicious. All food is made in house it's home cooking fabulous. Everything there is absolutely delicious cuz everything is homemade I strongly suggest checking out this small Gem of a great place.
