You cannot be in a rush when you go to Black Velvet. The baristas take their time to make each drink to order. They have a good variety of hot and cold beverages with your choice of dairy and non-dairy "milks". They also have amazing Belgian waffles.

I love this coffee shop. Great coffee and the barista there was so pleasant and helpful. I got the vanilla latte but asked if the espresso shot could be in a separate cup for me to taste prior to mixing. It was delicious. No bitterness or sourness in the 20 second shot. I liked it so much I came back the following day for a oatmilk honey latte! Got a bag of coffee and will be going back when I'm in the area again for sure.

Good mostly, although the espresso quality can vary quite significantly by barista. Biggest problem seems to be puck prep and channeling, but it doesn't help that you might get an espresso pulled from one of two wildly different espresso machines. Maybe check out a spinning espresso distributor tool and perhaps don't smash the ground coffee with all your might.

Best coffee and wine tasting in Mammoth! We always make sure to stop by Black Velvet when we’re in Mammoth. Idalia is our favorite and will make sure you have an enjoyable evening during her wine tasting!

When we come up to Mammoth I look forward to coming here almost as much as I look forward to skiing. This is my favorite coffee shop because the the coffee here has a complex flavor profile and is not bitter in the slightest. The homemade syrups are also awesome. In the evening they have a wine tasting that is quite good, and their seating is nice and relaxing.

I've been to a few coffee houses in Mammoth over the years and this has to be my favorite so far. I tried three this past trip and it was definitely my favorite new spot. Still have to try a few more. Lol I'll be heading there next time I'm up there for sure. I know I'm in an excellent coffee shop when I see one size coffee available and the cups are ink stamped. Not kidding either! The best coffee shops I've tried with this concept are the best coffees I've had. Check them out for sure. Yummy!

Great place, but part of how you pay for your drink is by waiting in a crazy-slow line.

I used to love going in here every day to do some writing with my dog in the summer. Then they stopped allowing dogs. Then they raised the price of a double shot. Double shot of espresso is now $4. Good coffee for the people who can afford it..

Coffee is good but the employees are snooty and not helpful. I rarely come here for this exact reason. How about a smile?

My favorite coffee in Mammoth (and some of my favorite in the world). I always stop by when I’m in town and frequented the shop when I lived close by. The specialty drinks are always tempting and flavorful for someone who typically drinks their coffee black. Also a great place to buy beans.

Was going here for 8 years, for a long time it’s been my favorite coffee place. But after ownership change, coffee quality got unstable. Sometimes coffee is good, sometimes coffee is … Floating stuff is not helping either, some of new folks are learning on the fly. The worst part for me was when they made a new rule not allowing dogs. Seriously?! No dogs at Mammoth… Doubt I will go there again, sad to see the place degrade that much

Terrible customer service. They served me a cold quiche and did not have it listed anywhere that it was served cold. A quiche has egg and cheese and meat and it should be specified how it is served. It was not even served room temperature, it was served cold and barely could put my fork through it. When I told the manager that it was too cold, she was beyond rude and awful. Did not offer me another item or a reimbursement and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. It was also an $8.00 slice of quiche and the customer service was terrible. 10/10 do not recommend coming here. There’s way better coffee shops in mammoth with way nicer employees. Do not come here.

The cappuccino here was really good! The coffee had the perfect level of acidity/bitterness and I’d definitely come back here when I’m in the area.

Cool space and our coffee was great. I had a dirty chai and was very impressed! Love the upstairs and all the “coffee gear” you can see.
