Went back to the G&B coffee place in the Grand Central Market - and for the 2nd day in a row they gave me a free Americano (on top of what I bought) today I had the Yeast raised waffle - it smelled like beer trub (when you brew beer, it is the layer of used yeast at the bottom of the fermentation container) when it is cooking and while lite and fluffy it has a subtle acidity that comes from fermentation (a sourdough waffle) - at $8.50 it is maybe the best deal going - high on flavor and a perfect breakfast with a cup of coffee - even better with a beer. If you sit facing the outside (on the right), you can watch the trolley cars, for the angel trolley, go up and down and see the people coming to get coffee and pastries - a delightful experience. I love the Americano though - great coffee flavor and ask for a side of milk (cow milk or plant-based) to add to it to smooth it out and cut that edge of acidity - I tried it without as well but I like the smoothness addition of some form of milk adds to the experience (like I said, smooths it out) - do note, that if you are having coffee there they don't take payment till you are done, which is nice and watching the coffee and waffles being made is a lot of fun. There is a blue bottle coffee place, in the Bradbury building, catty-corner to the side of the market G&B is on but the coffee at G&B, for me, was better - and finally, everyone who worked there was super nice - pleasant and polite and just a real pleasure to get to know over the three days I went for coffee, in the morning. Oh, and there is music, which is great - not too loud but it adds to the experience.
Filter coffee was exactly what the doctor ordered.
love the business & pleasure from here. its something unique i cant get from other coffee places. to me its a fun way to get the same amount of caffeine i would from a medium coffee but less calories and more fun! the fizzy tea is also a unique drink hard to find elsewhere. highly recommend!!
Good vibes, strong coffee. Waffles are back and so delicious! Love all the folks who work here too.
Absolutely LOVE this place! The best cappuccino!
Average chai latte... and too sweet
Their chai is a little weird but overall great service and yummy coffee
Seems like they're winning the race to the middle. It's an island/bar set up which makes it high-impact for workers (they get it from all sides). Definitely got the vibes that folks who work here are under-supported/underpaid. The espresso was discernibly better than the second-wave greasy stuff from the big chains, but really didn't have much distinctive quality or editorial perspective (as far as roasts go). The shop has a lot of legacy hype, but whatever earned it its reputation doesn't seem to be available on just any old weekday afternoon.
Had good cortados here. Nice spot to have a coffee sitting at the bar in the market.
Excellent place for morning coffee. Friendly and nice staffs.
The cappuccino was slightly bitter. I prefer blue bottle coffee down the street.
Really nice coffee shop. Similar to a bar experience where you go up and order without waiting in line. It was really nice to lean on the counter and wait, rather than awkwardly stand back somewhere out of the way listening for your name. The coffee is great too. Seems they have "daily" specials of different sources, which I really enjoy
Pretty good coffee. Their iced Latte is much tastier than their hot Latte.
The cappuccino was not bad, it tasted okay but was a bit pricey 4.5$ for a small cappuccino.
Emilio was excellent in his customer service. When I asked him what would be best to revive my corpse. He immediately gave me a suggestion. Will definitely come back for the quality of service and coffee. ☺️
Not a bad place, nice atmosphere, but I didn't really like the coffee in this place.
This is a training issue and a management problem. Your making coffee not creme brulee your order times are sad people want things faster now and you have to adapt to survive Starbucks is able to make blended 3 layer 5 ingredient drink's in 3 min even if they put wrong name and the coffee is always over roasted people go because they like strong coffee right now.
Nice spot coffee looked good. But it didn’t taste too good
Really nice place for your morning coffee. I do believe it had the best mocha I have ever tasted. The barista asked if I wanted oat milk and it was delicious. Quick and very friendly service. And it is in the Bradbury! Only some of you know the significance
Great coffee!! Best turmeric latte ever!
